YEP. MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY.

We are getting another freeze tonight. It'll continue through Wednesday of this week. We actually have a chance for snow on Tuesday!!

Yes, yes. Y'all north of us are like "what's the big deal?". Well, the last time it snowed, Texas fell the frack apart. We deal with extreme heat - not extreme cold. We don't work that way! 😄

I already have the heaty beds, heaty housies, and heaty blankies out & going. I've already stocked up at HEB. And, outside of already scheduled doctor & vet appointments, I will be living in fluffy socks, under a fluffy blanket.

Please stay safe!! Please stay warm!! Please BRING YOUR PETS INSIDE!!!

SOS!! CATS FLYING IN FROM THE MIDDLE EAST!!
AIRPORT PICK UP &
TRANSPORT NEEDED!!

Getting the cats here from Saudi Arabia has been a bit of a flustercuck. It is *scheduled* to happen this next week - but we are unsure if the airline will cancel b/c of the weather.

At this point, the airline is saying g the flight will go ahead. So we are rolling with that and setting up transport based on that info.

Five cats are arriving in Houston (IAH), on Wednesday Jan 22nd at 4:20pm. It takes about an hour/hour & a half for them to unload & clear Customs.

We need someone to be at IAH by 5ish, pick the cats up, and transport them to Schulenburg or all the way to San Antonio.

If it's Schulenburg, I will need someone to transport from Schulenburg to me in Converse (NE San Antonio).

Can anyone help?
1) pick up cats from IAH on 1/22/25 between 5-6pm
2) transport cars from Houston to Schulenburg or San Antonio
3) if Schulenburg, transport from Schulenburg to SA

Pls comment or DM if you can help!!

Thank you so much!!
Beth

PS - if you have questions about why we rescue internationally, pls "search" Kuwait and Saudi Arabia on this page. You will figure it out quick. 🙂

HUMANITY HAS FAILED THIS CAT

And I'm including myself in that statement.

This is Etta. She initially came to us about 4 years ago. We adopted Etta out. The adopted contacted us about Etta scratching furniture. I actually did a detailed evaluation & provided specific recommendations for their household. Two weeks later she contacted us, saying Etta was peeing in their beds. So we took Etta back - and straight to the vet. Where we discovered that the f*cking c*nt had DECLAWED Etta!! (I'm not a physically violent person. But this was one time I would have made an exception...)

We got the paw mutilation healed (as well as it can be) & UTI cleared up. And got Etta adopted out into a no other cat household (because - shockingly (sarcasm) - Etta no longer tolerates other cats.)

Fast forward 4 years. And here we are again. Etta is back with us. Through no fault of her's. Divorce & travel are the reasons given.

But since Etta has not been to the vet at ALL in the last 4 years (except for a rabies shot 3 yrs ago), we will have to completely vet Etta before she can find a REAL FOREVER home.

This complete vetting will include senior bloodwork (since she's over 5 yrs), a urinalysis, and a dental cleaning. So close to $1000.

(BTW - this is all routine vetting that *should* have been done annually over the last 4 yrs...)

Please help us help Etta. Donations can be made:
1) here, on this post
2) through PayPal at www.paypal.me/stpr
3) through Venmo at
4) through CashApp at $stxpr
I will list the donations made in the comments below.

Thank you for your support!! We are ever appreciative!! ❤️

FLOWER MOUND KITTY UPDATE

This is Vanilla. She was dumped at the Flower Mound shelter. The reason? They "no longer wanted to care for" her.

Admittedly, Vanilla is a MESS.

BUT what she has is a manageable condition. What does Vanilla have, you ask?

Dirty Face Syndrome.

DFS is an autoimmune condition. It basically looks like chin acne on steroids. But it's a bit more serious.

We had complete bloodwork, a urinalysis, and allergy testing done on Vanilla. All the results were normal.

So Vanilla is currently on antibiotics & ear meds. She is scheduled to be spayed & have a dental next week.

10 days after her surgery, we will start Vanilla on Atopica (an immuno-suppressant).

We have already spent about $1000 on Vanilla. And next week will be about another $1000.

So Vanilla is a very expensive mess. But I'm hopeful we can help improve her quality of life. ❤️

BAGEL!!!

Bagel was surrendered to a Houston shelter right before Christmas. The reason? Litterbox issues. Looking through the stack of paperwork dropped off with Bagel, it appears that the issue started with the owner switching over to an automatic litterbox.

Bagel did not do well in the shelter. He stopped eating. A cat not eating is a medical emergency - they quickly go into fatty liver failure.

When Bagel arrived here, he had started vomiting & was having bloody, mucous-y diarrhea. So - more medical emergencies.

Bagel was started on antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, anti-nausea meds. Which stopped the vomiting & helped improve the poops. And Bagel has started eating again.

Bagel is back at the vet today. We are going to have some diagnostic tests done to make sure there's nothing serious-serious going on. So urinalysis, bloodwork, xrays.

We expect Bagel's vet bill to be about $1000 for today.

Please help us help Bagel!! Donations can be made:
1) here, on this post
2) through PayPal at www.paypal.me/stpr
3) through Venmo at
4) called into Schertz Animal Hospital at 210.659.0345
5) through CashApp at $stxpr

Thank you for your support!! I will detail the donations received in the comments below.

LEIA UPDATE!!

Leia is a 1 year old red tabby persian. Leia ended up in rescue when her previous owner passed away, the family tossed her outside, and a Good Samaritan neighbor started caring for her. Leia was sick, the neighbor contacted rescue for help. And STPR was glad to be of service!

It's a really good thing Leia ended up here. Because she wasn't just sick...she was SICK SICK. Leia weighed only 3 pounds when she came to us. Bloodwork showed that she was anemic & had a high white blood cell count (so an infection). Several weeks of antibiotics & other meds didn't help - in fact, her bloodwork was worse.

A month of treatment, and Leia was really no better than she was when she first came to us. I had a relevation, consulted with some friends who are experts in the field, and began treating Leia....for Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP).

Leia had SOME of the markers associated with FIP. But since her anemia was almost at the point of needing a transfusion, the experts told me it couldn't hurt Leia to start the treatment.

When I started giving Leia the shots for FIP two weeks ago, she weighed 4.4 pounds. On Tuesday, she weighed in at almost 5 pounds! And her bloodwork is just about normal - anemia is resolved, white cell count normal. Leia's energy level is getting better. The little potbelly of fluid is gone. The muscles along her spine have filled back in.

So - LEIA HAS FIP!!

Normally FIP is not good news. But since we'd ruled out bacterial infection, flea-born disease, tick-born disease - we were running out of things it could have been!!

And since FIP is curable...this IS good news!!!

The treatment for FIP is a six month course. So Leia will be with us for a while. And the treatment is not cheap.

But we think Leia is worth it!!

LETTIN' IT ALL HANG OUT

I wanted to give y'all an update on Teddy. Teddy is a 1 year old persian. He was owner surrendered over a month ago. Unfortunately, it appears that Teddy's previous owner did not adequately socialize Teddy when he was a tiny kitten.

Teddy knows nothing about being groomed (which is a necessity for a persian). He is wary of being touched. He absolutely loses his sh*t when he is picked up.

My best guess - Teddy was completely ignored & neglected his entire life.

But Teddy LOVES other cats. And that will be the way to his heart!!

Teddy is currently being fostered by Nancy. She is working really hard on socializing him.

We will keep you updated on how Teddy is progressing!

RESCUE UPDATES!!

We are expecting a cold(ish) front on Sunday night. Theodore & Miles are already prepping by cuddling together in the heaty house. 💗

We currently only have one cat (Arby) listed for adoption. We have several cats undergoing socialization (Teddy, Gizmo, Morchella) and medical care (Vanilla, Bagel, Leia).

Once these cats are ready, they WILL be listed for adoption. No, I don't know when that will be. Sometime. It'll be sometime in the future. 🤷‍♀️

I'll be posting individual updates on the cats in our foster program. Several of them are being treated for really expensive, life threatening illnesses.

I just wanted to let y'all know what's going on behind the scenes!! 🙂
