HERE WE GO AGAIN!! 😁

We've been asked to take in more cats from Kuwait. I'm never going to say no to this request. So we have about 24 cats coming in on Nov 1st.

We always get questions about why are we bringing in cats from outside of the country. There are quite a few reasons. Animal welfare does not exist in the Middle East - there are no real governmental laws/guidelines/regulations about animal abuse/neglect. There are no animal shelters (outside of the handful of private individuals). There is no safety net, in other words. Many peoples' solution to no longer wanted animals, sick animals, etc is to dump them in the streets. There are literally purebred animals running around as strays. I know that we can find these gorgeous cats homes - that is never an issue. And, no, it does not interfere with us rescuing local cats. We always find room, we always find a way!!!

I have previously posted about this subject. I'm going to post some links here, so you can read up. Yes, most of these posts are several years old - but nothing has changed. *Just a word of warning - some of these posts are pretty disturbing.*

It's pretty common that these cats have various ailments when we get them - it's a very long, highly stressful trip. So, unsurprisingly, we have pretty big vet expenses.

Please help us help them!!! Donations can be made:

2) through PayPal at www.paypal.me/stpr
3) through Venmo at
4) called into Schertz Animal Hospital at 210.659.0345

I really want to raise at least $3000. I will keep a running total below.

Thank you for your support!!
Beth

PS - we are not currently accepting applications on these cats. Once they arrive, are healthy, and behavioral evaluated they will be available for adoption. Please monitor the page for updates!

BENJI UPDATE!!!

Benji came to us from Kuwait. He had had diarrhea his entire life. And weighed 4 pounds at 1½ years of age. He was nothing but a skeleton, his coat was brittle & sparse. Anything he ate went straight through him.

I wasn't sure we were going to be able to help Benji - this had been going on for so long!!

But under the care of Dr Rodriguez, Benji was place on several medications. We also placed him on a rabbit based raw diet.

Benji is now weaned off of all meds. And as long as the only food he gets is the rabbit raw (Savage frozen rabbit and Vital Essentials freeze dried rabbit raw), he has had perfect poops!!!

Benji did also come to us with ringworm. And the meds he was taking for his digestive issues interfered with the anti-fungal treatment. But now that he's done with the GI medications, we expect the one tiny spot of RW to clear up quickly. 🤞

Benji should be ready for adoption in a couple of weeks. His new home will absolutely need to maintain his current diet - and make sure he gets no others foods/treats/etc.

DANCE PARTY USA!!!

It's been a good weekend so far.

Yesterday: Three cats went to foster. I was able to get in a great 6 mile hike at Eisenhower Park. And got a bunch of small "to do's" done.

Today: Cuddle time done. Blanket fort done. And Pixie still demanded dance party. 😁 Oy vey - that is one spoiled kitten. Lol.

(Yes - I know its time for a pedicure. And yes - I know Pixie needs her face cleaned. Meds & grooming is next up!)

STINKY NO MORE!!

Durian's bloodwork was, overall, pretty good. He is slightly anemic. Which is, hopefully, due to malnutrition. We will recheck his bloodwork in 2 weeks. He does have a massive bacterial ear infection - he is now on meds for that.

Today I gave Dury a medicated bath. Combed out the scabs. And shaved off much of his matting.

He was not appreciative. Or happy. Lol.

But he smells better!!

THE GANG'S ALL HERE!

Four cats to the vet today:

1) Cherry Blossom's eosinophilic granuloma complex is flaring again. The mass on her upper lip is growing. So she'll get steroid shots weekly until it goes away.
2) Sammi got his 2nd booster shot. And a recheck on his eye. Recheck in 30 days to see if eye removal will be necessary.
3) Balor got the severe ulcer in his left eye looked at. It is improving!! Continue all 3 eye meds. Recheck in 2 weeks.
4) Chubbs had a recheck on his infected ear. It looks good. But we've been here before. So no meds right now. But we will recheck in 30 days to make sure the ear infection has not reoccurred. 🤞

Donations to help cover this week's vet bills would be helpful & greatly appreciated! Donations can be made:

SO I'VE BEEN KEEPING A SECRET!

Because I knew y'all would go insane for this baby. And I wasn't sure when he was going to be ready.

But he's ready now!! 😁

This is Toby!! He's a one year old silver tabby persian. And he is STUNNING!!

Toby came to us from a senior citizen who had not been able to give him the care & maintenance that he requires. Toby had also been raised as an only kitten - so he has some issues associated with that. Lol.

What Toby needs: a persian experienced home who is not going to give in to him. Someone who is going to scrub his goo face daily, who is going to comb him several times a week. And who is going to be strong-willed about it even when Toby says no (btw - he will definitely say no 😆).

Toby is also *very* active, playful, and energetic. He would do best with another young male cat - but that boy needs to be stubborn. A cat that will not allow Tobby to overwhelm them (remember I mentioned the "only kitten" syndrome?).

Toby is currently in a foster home with several LARGE ragdoll boys. He wrestles & rough houses with these big boys. So maybe Toby just needs a big boy that will sit on him if he gets bossy? 🤣

DURIAN!!

Durian had a good weekend. He ate & drank very well. No more bloody diarrhea. I started him on several meds & began the treatment for sarcoptic mange. Based on his teeth, I do think he's about 3 yrs old. And he is already neutered (so someone cared about him at one time...).

Today we are going to have complete bloodwork, fiv/felv testing, and a f***l done. Just to make sure we are addressing all of Durian's issues.

I expect today's bill to be at least $500. You can donate to help Durian:

MEET DURIAN!!!

We were contacted by a South Texas shelter, asking if we could take in yet another medical case. Of course I said yes. 🤷‍♀️

This is Durian. And, yes, he stinks. Poor child!!!

Durian obviously has some serious stuff going on with his skin (thus the smell 🤢). He is also extremely emaciated - weighing just 5 pounds.

Durian will be going in to Schertz Animal Hospital on Monday for a complete work up. Please help us help this poor baby. Donations can be made:

MUST 💗 DOGS!!

This kitty is Chubbs (blue tabby Scottish Fold). When he came to us, he had SEVERE ear mites (his ear canals were blocked - I doubt he could hear anything). And he had a very serious secondary bacterial infection.

I have been doing cultures, switching medications, and trying to get this ear infection cleared up for ALMOST SIX MONTHS! During the course of all this, Chubbs developed a head tilt. (Because of course he did...) Which has impacted his balance & ability to jump.

But, overall, Chubbs has learned to compensate for the head tilt. The tilt may or may not get better. Once he's medically cleared, he'll just need to go to a home that's mostly flat. Lol.

Chubbs is a d*ck to other felines. He was neutered after a year of age, so he can be very dominating & aggressive with cats. (He's doing ok here as he is on a high dose of prozac. 😆) So he'd do best as the only cat.

BUT... Chubbs LOVES dogs (as you can clearly see). So his forever home MUST have at least one active, young, cat-friendly dog for him to play with. ❤️
