With a very heavy heart, we announce the passing of our amazing mare Three Dots Poco San, aka Three Dots. Unfortunately, no one is immune to experiencing some type of loss in this industry. This line of work can be extremely rewarding, but also extremely devastating.
We would like to give a huge thank you to the on call staff over at Kendall County Veterinary Center for giving this mare a fighting chance and doing all they could to try and save her life. Ultimately, Three Dots had case of colic which isn’t uncommon in the first two months after foaling. As we now know, this occurs as uterine involution is taken place and more room is suddenly available in the abdomen that the foal previously occupied. This makes it far easier for a colon torsion to take place.
We are extremely thankful to say her foal, Max is doing okay for now and will be receiving milk replacer. We were able to get him to latch onto our mare Rage, but only in a monitored setting. Our good friend, Shelby’s mare Polly decided she would adopt Max as her own last night which was a complete blessing and good way to end such a devastating night.
Thank you everyone for your support during these trying times. Our beautiful mama is running in green pastures up in heaven. ❤️
