Pup Pup and Away

Pup Pup and Away Pup Pup and Away offers pet care with a behavioral edge! Dog Training-Daycare-Boarding My name is Stephanie, Certified Dog Trainer and Owner of Pup Pup & Away.

Boy, do I have a story for you! I always knew I wanted to work with animals, especially pets, but I thought it was going to be in the veterinary field. My first job was as a receptionist at a small animal hospital. I loved the small setting and even got to sit in on and watch a few surgeries. I began attending Texas A&M in 2007 with vet school as my goal. Well, did you know chemistry is hard!? Wit

h my GPA not being of vet school standard, I turned to a degree in Animal Behavior which opened my eyes to a whole new world of careers in the pet industry. I began working at a facility that offered boarding, daycare and veterinary services. I realized I had an eye for detail and an act for caring for other people's pets and fell in love with this new calling. Graduation in 2011 brought me back home to San Antonio. I worked at another daycare and boarding facility honing in and sharpening my pet hospitality skills. In September 2012, I moved to Houston with my long term boyfriend and began working at Peace Love & Dogs. PLD became my home for the next 4 years and taught me so much about myself as a person and as a professional. I started in the daycare department supervising groups of playing dogs like in previous jobs but this time learning and focusing on how behavior affects play. Peace Love & Dogs also held many group classes by Stephanie Bennett, CPDT-KSA and I got to sit in and observe. I feel in love with a new passion: TRAINING. With the help of Stephanie, my other boss, Anna, and lots of dog books I began teaching my own puppy classes in July 2013 and have not stopped training. I expanded my class resume to include Puppy I and II, Puppy Socialization and Adult Basic Obedience I and II. I also assisted in Nosework, Tricks, and CGC classes. I became a certified trainer in October 2014. The experiences I gained, clients I met and best friends I've made at PLD are priceless and irreplaceable but home was calling me back. In February 2017, we made the move back to San Antonio and I began business as Pup Pup & Away! I currently offer private in-home training lessons, daily dog walks, and daily as well as overnight pet sitting services. If you've got a pet, I'd love to meet them! If you've got a pet care need, I'm your girl!

Bandit has a mural!

JK I went to and saw this amazing mural that looks just like him though. Maybe the owner of Mama’s wants to adopt Bandit? Or maybe you love this restaurant so much (it’s delicious) and you want to adopt Bandit then sit out on their dog-friendly patio together and tell everyone he was their muse?!

Bandit is a senior boy around 8 years old who was rescued off a hoarding property by . He has been living at our facility for over a year and has gone through a couple of extensive surgeries but has healed nicely. He is the biggest snuggle bug and couch potato and deserves to not spend the holidays in a kennel. Please consider adopting, fostering or just sharing his story. This sweet bot wants a family Christmas!

Our one year anniversary of being in our new facility has come and gone quietly. We closed from regular business hours Friday, moved everything including the boarding dogs in one single weekend, then opened up that next Monday. Holy s**t were we TIRED!
Making the decision to move to a bigger facility was scary! It’s been a loooooong year of hard work and sacrifices but it was all worth it. We are still in our growth phase and we need to make some upgrades like getting DRYWALL but with our TENTH birthday coming up in January, I know we are where we belong.

With SNAP benefits being withheld, our neighbors are going to need our help, including their pets. Daisy Cares is an organization in our community that helps people get access to pet food and afford vet bills. We are proud to be a donation site. Please bring in your unused food or pet items.

Meet Lulu. She gets really uncomfortable when people come over and will growl and lunge at guests. What initially do for clients worked for Lulu to get me in the apartment successfully at our first visit, but for some reason, on the second visit we couldn’t make it up the stairs together. Thinking in my feet, I told her mom to go upstairs, grab and bowl and treats and meet me down stairs. Here’s how it went

Vendor shopping, costume contest, haunted agility, photoshoots and doggy massages were just some of the fun parts of the evening. Can’t wait to do it again in 2026! #

Our Story

Pup Pup & Away was started in January 2016 by Stephanie Garza, CPDT-KA (Certified Professional Dog Trainer- Knowledge Assessed). Since then, we have serviced pet parents in their homes offering in-home pet sitting and daily dog walking. These services allow our clients to vacation or attend a full day’s work knowing their pets are happy and well taken care of in their own home.

Our clients also love our training expertise! We offer training services either in the client’s home, offering a specialized and personalized training program, or in group classes. Both services make sure the family is a part of the process, teaching them how to communicate and understand their canine sidekicks better. No matter what your training goals are, we can help!

We’d love to help you Harness Your Sidekick Superpowers!
