Today's shoutout is for our Lead Tech/Lab Manager Zac. He is our go to guy for all exotic pets, aggressive/fearful dogs and cats, and our go to handy-guy around the hospital. Zac has been a member of the team and helping San Bruno animals for 16 years now and we couldn't do it without you. Thanks Zac! 😄

Today's shout out is to our Lead Tech Allan. We have had Allan as part of the SBPH team for 10 years now and is our go to for dogs or cats who need extra care. His calm and easy going approach keep patients at ease, even when they are stressed and afraid. Thanks so much Allan for all that you do!

Today for we have the spot light on our RVT Krista! She also teaches part-time at the Foothill College RVT Program and is a wealth of knowledge. Krista has been indispensable as one of our main surgery technicians and loves to help others learn too. Thank you Krista for all that you do!

Today in honor of we are highlighting one of our RVTs, Yessica! She has been a team member since 2022 and loves traveling to Mexico in her free time to help stray animals. Yessica is always available to give a helping hand to her team-mates and is great at comforting patients when they need extra love and cuddles. Thank you Yessica for all that you do! 😁🐾

Fireworks season is upon us, but they’re downright terrifying to our pets. Help your pet feel safe and comfortable on this festive (yet noisy) holiday:

- Some pets with severe anxiety will need anti-anxiety medications to help them get through the holiday. Talk to your San Bruno Pet Hospital veterinarian to find out about these options.
- Provide background noise. Soft, calming music, television, and fans can distract pets from the commotion.
- Block off tiny areas. In an attempt to hide from the noise, small pets may try to weasel themselves into cramped spaces, where they could then become stuck.
- Pets may become desperate and try to escape your home to get away from the noise. Make sure your pet’s microchip is up to date before the holiday in case they get out.
- Offer cozy places to hide so pets feel safer and don’t seek those dangerously small areas.
