I'm sorry, but I need to be transparent and vent. It not only breaks my heart, but also upsets me, so see how many dogs people are trying to rehome. I understand when it is physical emergencies (such as allergies, death, etc...). But a dog is a commitment. They aren't just things to throw away or give away like a Christmas present that you no longer use. To say, "We don't have the time to dedicate to them" or "The dog needs more space" or "We just can't deal with the behaviors" "We don't have the finances" just baffles me.
I am a dog trainer with my own business.
1. There are so many resources out there to help you with your pup.
2. Every dog will have some sort of behavioral issue, even over excitement, etc... Search to learn about Dog Psychology and Body Language. There are so many trainers even online that have reels, links, etc...
3. I have seen homeless individuals, take better care of their dogs, than those with have money.
4. Dogs have emotions, every time there is a big change, it takes them time to decompress and adjust. This usually is accompanied by behavioral changes and issues.
5. There is a pandemic in CA, the shelters are flooded, rescues are full and do not have enough fosters.
6. You made the decision to get a dog, now keep that commitment, and do whatever it takes to keep your furry family member.
