We are all set for the start of the season!

Don’t mind my sloppiness, but I was feeling like showing you all Kai working, its been a while. Just something fun.

We did it! We got this dog, who was kicked out of the vets office because he was so reactive, not only to the vet but also his shots. This was a short term training so that we could be successful at the vets office. This is a good start for anyone who isn’t successful at the vets.

If you are someone who needs to put your dog into a muzzle for the safety of them and others, this video is for you. We are going to go in depth of everything that is involved and to expect in the process of training a muzzle.

Look at our gundog go, this is far more advanced than just your average retrieve. Come hunting season, she is going to be a champ.

Teaching your dogs self control, not to act on impulse, and being stable is way more important than any tricks you’ll ever teach them. You’ll find that out when you get a dog that has some behavioral issues.

04/17/2023

Starting off a new dog, this is a good representation of where to start for most just getting into training.

It’s time to get a little more strict with our dogs. Now we will start to add some structure into our walks to not only train but condition our dogs to appropriately respond around distractions. The structure will now starts at the car or doorway, with control before and after the transition. While walking we will practice a short leash walk to build self control and a better walking position. We will also start to practice stationary self control, so our dogs can stay in one spot easier. All while counter conditioning reactivity and giving us more control and attention.

01/18/2023

Here I’ll show you what it looks like to take your dog for a walk when you are first starting training. Surprisingly you’re not just going for a walk, your training! We will show you how to first build engagement, then how you should move around. And following this structure will allow you to not only have an enjoyable walk, but still keep the consistency of training.

Trying to teach your dog how to relax, lay down, or go into the crate?

Instead of pushing them into it, work on capturing and shaping a calmer dog.

07/26/2022

Sometimes it’s just a quite video of dogs! Nothing else!

07/16/2022

If you’re dog is one that either avoids you or a certain situation, listen up!

Ideally we don’t want our dogs to avoid us and we don’t want to pick them up to solve the problem, especially our small dogs.

Starting out another dog today, everyone welcome Wiley!

This guy is smart!

07/13/2022

This is a great example of how good isnt going to be your solve all. But your dog not taking food is an indication.

You want to make sure that you have a calm and collected dog that can engage with before you start teaching.

Pick a quiet place first and branch out from there.

This is always a tough one, trying to train two dogs at once isn’t something I recommend you start out with.

However it can be done and here are a few tricks to get going.

Bagel has basically learned to react when she sees dogs. So how do you reteach that?

Being calm around dogs first at a distance, slowly working your way closer, building that self control.

Even in the end of the video, that little lunge you see is just her wanting to initiate play with buck.

07/08/2022

Highlight Video ⚠️ WARNING ⚠️ not really all that exciting. These are all of the run ins we have had with dogs today.

Super impressed with how Bagel is sharing space especially one on one with dogs in the street.

This is how I introduce two dogs, this process allows both dogs to feel comfortable through out all the stages.

There is no rush to introducing two dogs, and at any point in the process if the dog was showing hostility, that would be your limit.

Day 4 and we are finally able to see how Junior interacts with other dogs.

Utilizing the outside of the dog park for safety and control. Trying to keep a calm dog through the whole process.

06/24/2022

Fun in the sun! Bowey has been doing so well and has proven he can handle this experience.

Going to the dog park isn’t the right answer for most reactive dogs, however once you do build trust and self control, it can be good socialization.

06/22/2022

Day 3 with bagel, now we are going to work in a remote training collar to take things to the next level.

Training collars are tools we use to help improve our obedience but they don’t teach your dog how to behave. They just help us communicate, the rest is still on us.

06/20/2022

I’m speechless… this is just a huge step in the right direction.

06/20/2022

We love to see this out of our reactive dogs, being able to share space and interact with stranger dogs. This allows us to better dissect our dogs triggers, see what they can and cannot handle, and counter-condition.
