Rose came into our care early January of this year as a stray from Westmorland Animal Control. As many already know, our staff does not like seeing senior pets in the shelter. Rose was stressed being in an overcrowded kennel with sights, smells, sounds, and hundreds of other dogs that were completely foreign to her… She was shutting down. We did our very best to network her with senior rescue groups but shelters and rescue groups all over Southern California are experiencing the same issue we are – a massive overcrowding of unwanted pets. Since rescues couldn’t help and after several weeks of searching for a foster home, we finally found one. Rose has made a full comeback and has made huge strides! She does well with children, other dogs, cats, and she is housebroken! It’s clear that she was once someone’s pet, and she was taught to have very good manners. Rose has met several potential adopters, but no one has snatched her up yet. She would be the perfect companion for a retired family and one that isn’t too active. Our paws are crossed that this perfect senior shepherd is adopted during !
