Group stays can be tricky if the proper training hasn’t been done individually. Then you have to work in distractions, distance & duration! To get a cat and three dogs to stay without someone finding a reason to itch, play, or sniff something random was a task in itself, but totally manageable with patience and the perfect reward!✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

Leash training!!! Sometimes pet parents come with a their own training in place and they end up needing a bit of help to reinforce that training or to be guided ins different direction. Bear here came to me with prior prong collar training (not my favorite way to leash train, but I thought it would be important to note that no dog is the same and some take to methods better than others). We are now transitioning Bear from a prong to a normal collar to help Bear learn how to walk calmly without being negatively reminded to do so. Positive reinforcement only!✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

Puppy play time is probably my favorite service that we offer! They are supervised playtimes for up to 6 dogs! We work on doggy recall, pack training, and help some pups better understand doggy language so they are more respectful of other dogs. These group playtimes take place at one of our favorite parks where we play at the dog park, venture around the giant grass area, and then walk along the park trail. It’s always fun and games✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

Let’s talk about exposure and socialization! When anyone asks for tips on first getting a puppy I always say to expose your puppy to as many different smells, people, and environments as you can. Some puppies will be confident about life and others might be a bit more reserved, go at your puppy’s pace. Many people believe that a puppy has to stay home until they are fully vaccinated which is far from the truth. Sure they should not go around a bunch of dogs that are not vaccinated or who aren’t family/friend dogs, but puppies can benefit from that much needed environmental exposure!
Cats are much smarter than we give them credit for!✨
For some reason people don’t believe that cats are trainable which is quite inaccurate. Cats can do anything that you take the time to help them understand. This is the first time we’ve practiced a “wait” at such close proximity and typically he sits to avoid eating it without being given an “okay”, but he was feeling risky today.
Tip: never say your command more than 3 times without adjusting the scenario or waiting patiently for your pet to fulfill your request. ✨🐯✨

The best way to begin leash training your cat or kitten is to start off slowwww. Cats are routine based animals and would much prefer slower transitions. Those slow progressions from putting on the harness to walking with the leash will definitely take time, but will allow your kitty to feel much more comfortable and safe with the new adventures ahead.
You’ll notice once the harness is on that your cat may begin to act like they suddenly don’t know how to walk, rest assured they are simply getting aquatinted with the foreign object on their royal body👑 Be patient, give your kitty some time because exploring the world together is definitely worth it.

New puppies are a handful no doubt! This is a puppy play date featuring Lava and almost five month old, smush face Walter😊 Some puppies are a bit shy and take some time to warm up to new places and people, which takes time, lots of socialization, and positive interactions to work through. On the flip side other people may have overly confident puppies who are curious about everything the world has in store, like Walter. Managing puppies like Walter takes patience, trust, and consistency✨
Each play date has proven beneficial with Walter, we have been working on his recall and off leash training. He is easily distracted, as any puppy will be, but his attention is also pretty easy to get back with treats and my “puppy attention” voice☺️
