Dog Gift Wrapping! The first part of their presents arrived. They all got a new sweater. 🐾Us spoiling them has zero correlation to us both crying before, during, and after Dragon’s spay surgery. We worry.🥹In my experience it used to be a first come, first serve situation for surgery. When I volunteered at Minnikota Paws - a local neuter and spay facility- we typically did small dogs. So I convinced Anthony to drop her off at the earliest time before work. We brought a blanket which they took with her, but they sent her transport kennel back home with us.🐕🦺Around noon, I was hoping she was coming to. Anthony called the veterinary clinic since I was teaching. They told us her surgery wouldn’t start until 1:00pm. ⏰ I understand bio security, but it broke my heart to think of her in a kennel for such a long period of time. Luckily she knows her blanket in a kennel means rest. We just don’t usually kennel them for more than 1 hour unless we aren’t home.☹️ I’m grateful we discussed how we felt about kennels when we got Blu. Here were some key points that resulted in us kennel training our dogs 🐶 #1 Medical Emergency human or dog#2 Long Term Boarding #3 Safety from trash panda behavior#4 Restroom training #5 welcoming all guests#6 I don’t want my dogs bothering those caring for them, or if we pass away for our dogs to constantly be rehomed for being naughty. 😈It breaks my heart thinking of that, but I want to give my dogs the best chance they have if the unthinkable happens.💔😭. #CapCut #dogtraining #dogobedience #fureverhome #newdogmom #newdog #newpuppycheck #puppy #puppylove @blu.the.dobbie

TW: Loss, grief, pets, seizures ⚠️ New logo for Bueno Dog Training by my colleague @dobermansbay 🐕🦺 She has an adorable Doberman named Venus and great content y’all should check out! I think we are gunna hop on live tomorrow and work on grooming tips. Maybe @anthonyantonoff and @the.doberman.chronicles will join to practice with a Dremel and other mail clipping styles. I’m gunna use hot dogs as a high value treat 🌭 🔍🐾 We want to find as many like minded people as possible to create educational content about dog training, service animals, and agriculture. ❤️💙While I have a lot of things to be grateful for, I’m having a hard time right now. I really want to thank everyone for their kindness and support. Especially the best dog dad ever @anthonyantonoff 👩🎓 I’m sorry I’ve been sporadic with life lately- my dog Rexx is just about as old as a boxer can get. He’s had 6 seizures this month. It breaks my heart seeing him suffer. He’s tried some meds but their side effects were worse than the damage the seizures were doing to his brain.🧠 He can hardly walk. He used to be so young and full of life much like myself. When I have to let him go I know it will be closing a big part of my life. I wouldn’t be here today without the unconditional love of the first dog I trained. I’m so grateful Red, Blu, and Texx got to meet him in such formative times in their life. I see so much of his kindness and joyful spirit and the occasional signature dramatic sigh he lets out at the perfect moment. I love this dang dog. 🐶 I feel like this industry needs people who will do better by dogs. I’m tired of seeing so many animals suffer because of ignorance. Please help us blow up by liking, sharing, commenting, following and collaborating with our pages and any we support. As a community we can continue passing on Rexx’s legacy. While my dog is on her free time I am helping her fall more in love with a task she excels at💪 I love evaluating my dogs strengths. I haven’t been able to sleep the past 4 nights and having her help me improves my quality of life immensely💕I appreciate Reds work so much and we both want her to enjoy her free time. Since she’s on break- we don’t expect excellence. Find a specific person is a recall service dog task that helps the handler notify specific people a medical emergency has occurred 🚑We keep recall work fun. The more challenges they can sniff, jump, and search through the better their recall will develop. ❤️If you see Red in the video, she gets distracted by a dog but loops herself back over to find her “daddy” @anthonyantonoff In this case, we praise the end result since this was their first time practicing in this location at this great distance. In the future we want immediate recall ending with a sit watch me at the feet of the person they’re trying to find. But how do we start? BY MAKKNG IT FUN AND SAFE!🐾It’s important to practice everywhere you can. We practice inside our home, on walks, at parks, on hikes and during public access training. 🧑🏻🏫Be careful with your dogs footing on trails! And be cautious about their safety. I could see this section of the trail and the dogs are very familiar with this area.💙Warning: this training will build up your dogs endurance. If you are not interested in your dog outlasting you on a walk, try shorter distances with distractions. We toss toys on the ground or have the temping laundry baskets out when we practice at home.⚠️Blu is training to be a psychiatric service dog for anxiety, panic attacks, increased heart rate alerts, and to interrupt depressive behaviors his human exhibits (nail picking, rocking, hyperventilating, leading his human out of overwhelming places)🩺Red is training to be a psychiatric PTSD service dog. She is highly vigilant and will look at things moving in an environment so her handler doesn’t have to be as guarded. She will alert when someone gets too close and will also ignore a distraction on command. She can find an exit, a vehicle, and perform deep pressure therapy as needed. One of my favorite commands for her is watch my 6 (back) while I open the door or can’t keep an eye out.

Service Dog Task: Find Someone who can help AND stay despite distractions 🐕🦺Dog Moving: We are teaching our pups to identify between the two of us. Our goal is for them to be able to lead us to the other human in case of emergency or for medication. If you see a SD wondering around a store, don’t distract it by calling to it or letting it, follow from a safe distance to see if the owner needs help.🏥Dog Staying: This week I’ve seen 2 fake service dogs at the store. This makes recall and focus even more important. Differentiating between an edible item (treat) versus a spot (pillow/blanket/bed/target that he lays down on)🐕🦺Since Blu is a Service Dog In Training, I like to have a smaller spot that we can bring on long days out for him to rest his head or elbows on when we are are the gym or staying in one space for a long time (dinner, movies, fairgrounds)🐶Spot also helps when greeting guests into your home. We can tell our dogs to lay on their spot until they have permission to meet our guests.🐾In the video you can see me use his negative word (stop), praise him for making steps in the right direction, and ask him to pressure on spot (drop this weight of his head down). 🦮Lemon pillow from 大創 DAISO JAPAN 🍋WARNING: do not leave your dog alone with a new item you are concerned they may chew.
