COOPER HAD ANOTHER GROWTH SPURT 🤯

Over the last two weeks, Cooper has grown even taller (and leggier) - we've even had to lower his exercise and increase his meals to 4.5 cups each to get the rest of his body to match 🫣

Not only does he look a little more proportional at this height, but it has also given us a better hint to his breed mix! We believe Cooper has Great Dane, Boxer, and/or Malinois. Of course this is just a guess, so...

RESCUE DOGS ROCK 🤘

Since joining our training program back in May of 2023, Rex & his handler have made AMAZING progress with public access skills, task training, and advanced obedience around distractions.

Thanks to the trust and loyalty from , we were able to assess and work with Rex in order to find the best long term placement for him!

Rescues can sometimes need some extra time to adjust to their new life, but that doesn't make them any less successful with the proper patience and effort put in.

UNBREAKABLE BONDS 💛

Unfortunately, Phoenix has been medically retired from service work due to a heart murmur.

Phoenix has done an incredible job guiding, comforting, and ensuring the safety of her mom since starting training with us. Even after recently being attacked by a dog, she has shown continued trust in her bond as a partner and relies just as much on her mom as her mom relies on her.

We will continue working with Phoenix to slowly "wean" her off of frequent outings, as well as to upkeep her at-home tasks to continue doing her job (but with some accommodations of her own)!

Retirement isn't the end of the story for Phoenix and her mom - it's just a new chapter filled with well-deserved rest, lots of playtime, and endless spoiling.

PROGRESS AT THEIR PACE 🫶

This is Kobe, a severely anxious with a LOT of character! Kobe's parents reached out to us after experiencing some hiccups with their previous trainer including lack of improvement and sensitivity to training tools. As soon as his anxious behaviors started leading to aggression, we got Kobe set up for a long-term Board & Train.

It's been about a month and a half since Kobe joined us, and he's finally showing some progress in his trust and confidence. The first week and a half was all about building a positive relationship - now his main focus here has been management skills like a solid recall, food luring, and controlled exposure to different stressors!

Now that he's showing us that he's ready to venture out into the world, Kobe will continue receiving socialization & exposure. His dog reactivity has decreased, and we've started to see his sweet personality shine through 🥺

Though Kobe is still experiencing stress and anxiety, we're extremely proud of the progress he's made and are looking forward to getting him to a place where he can be comfortable both in the home and out in public. Keep an eye out on our page for updates on this big boy! 🐕🐾

LUCKY DESERVES A LUCKY BREAK 😥

After almost a year in our program, Lucky is STILL waiting for his forever home with no applications in sight.

Over the last couple of weeks Lucky has made major improvements with his confidence, and has shown us that he's ready for his future as a loyal companion. Despite a history of lifelong neglect, this sweet boy has been amazingly resilient and is eager to find someone who will offer him the love, attention, and patience that he so desperately needs!

MISSING THAT SUMMER WEATHER 😭

We are SO glad that we got to spend time at Fiesta Island before the first signs of winter weather!

All four of our personal dogs are trained on an Educator Technologies E-Collar. Not only does this mean that they can respond to commands from a long distance, but it also means that we are able to have them safely off leash in areas like Fiesta where there are countless distractions like birds, dogs, and (of course) plenty of smells.

Dante and Maizy love to swim - thankfully, all receivers from this trusted brand are fully waterproof and the tone, vibration, or stim feature can still be used while a dog is swimming or splashing in the water!

MR. MOOSE 💛

Moose is one of our longest running clients, and has been on a serious journey from an anxious and aggressive state to a calm and loving companion dog who enjoys outings with his parents.

When Moose was initially rescued by , he had been left tied up in his previous owner's front yard for an unknown amount of time. Due to this, he developed significant reactivity towards dogs and anxiety around new people.

We started private sessions immediately following Moose being in his foster home (before the foster fail 😁), and through a combination of these sessions, group classes, field trips, and pack walks, Moose has been built into a much more confident family pet with mutual loyalty and a happy demeanor!

We'll continue to work with Moose and his parents on their goal of having him comfortably walking on a long line in public places, as well as moving forward with Canine Good Citizen titles through the AKC. ❤️‍🩹🐾

GOLDEN HOUR 🌤️

We got the opportunity to take advantage of "golden hour" with Kona at our last pack walk, and boy was it worth it!

Kona & her mom have been working with us since April of 2023, and in that time this gorgeous girl has gone from being extremely anxious & dog reactive to being comfortable in crowds of any size. Even with a recent, thankfully minimally damaging, dog attack, Kona knows that she can trust her mom to give her instruction and keep her safe in whatever environment they're in.

PINKY UPDATE! 🤩

Remember Pinky, the we introduced a while back into our Board & Train program?

This pretty lady is ACING her basic obedience, BREEZING through exposure therapy for dog reactivity, and is on to E-Collar foundations so that she can work off-leash as a service dog in the future.

When Pinky first arrived for her Board & Train she struggled with stress and separation anxiety due to never having been away from home before. Now she's always happy and rearing to go and loves to train and play with the other dogs onsite that match her energy.

We expect Pinky to make a full 'recovery' with her reactivity and can't wait to start practicing public access skills with her dad during post-board private lessons. Be sure to drop a follow, if you haven't already, to stay up to date on Pinky's progress! 🐖🐾

MEET LUNA! 💛

Luna, though little, is mighty tough when it comes to her aggression towards strangers.

With the help of HeroicK9s trainer Emerson, Luna has been able to work through being able to be removed from her crate, harnessed, and walked by someone other than her mom!

Over the next few months, Luna will continue working with us to rewire her negative association with people and teach her that an aggressive response is not the answer to her discomfort.
