The Cat Cafe

The Cat Cafe Southern California's FIRST cat cafe, located in America's Finest city Cat cafes started in Taiwan, and spread to Japan, where they're very popular.

There are over 100 cat cafes in Japan. Since then, they've spread throughout the world. We were inspired by one of the first cat cafes in Europe, Le Cafe des Chats, in Paris. They had waits of two to three months for people to get a reservation. Since opening in January 2015, The Cat Cafe has sent hundreds of cats to good homes. Originally partnering with San Diego Humane Society, we've partnered

with The Rescue House since February 2017. In addition to adopting out animals, we seek to highlight other San Diego businesses. That's why we feature coffee and espresso from Cafe Virtuoso, pastries from Bread & Cie, cookies from The Cravory and sandwiches and snacks from Sunshine and Orange.

This cat reminds us of one of our alumni, Stubby. Like Stubby, this guy has the cauliflower ear and scars from his time on the street. But Stubby was a lot of fun to have around and we're sure this senior cat is as well.

If you're going to travel with your cat, which we don't recommend having done a cross country move with them, here's what you do. Tell the TSA to take you to their secure room where you'll hold the cat while they scan its carrier. They'll screen you and your bags, and then es**rt you to the room. You'll take the cat out of the carrier there. They'll run the carrier through the machine and then bring it back to you. From there, you can put the cat back in the carrier and go on your way.

It took a long time, but Kenny Rogers finally went home. He's been with us since the spring. And despite his friendly and fun personality, he didn't have anyone adopt him. That all changed yesterday and now we're at 873 adoptions.
