It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of our hospital effective Friday, February 23. The existing building is small and outdated, which has limited our ability to upgrade equipment and technology. Relocating to a larger facility was not an option due to the higher construction and lease costs. The decision to close was a difficult one to make, and we're aware of the important role our hospital played in supporting pets in the community.

We apologize for any disruption this may cause, and want to make your pet’s transition to a new hospital as easy as possible. Both Dr. Boyd’s Pet Resort and Bodhi Animal Hospital are part of Thrive Pet Healthcare’s cohesively linked network. They will accommodate Pacific Beach clients, providing exceptional, uninterrupted care and seamless transfer of your pet’s records.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Iris Whelan and Dr. Benita Keiss will transfer to Bodhi Animal Hospital. You are welcome to contact Bodhi to schedule an appointment with your doctor.

If you wish to receive a copy of your pet’s records via email, please contact [email protected]. Your pet’s medical records will be available in our system and can be forwarded even after Feb. 23.

Like many industries right now, veterinary clinics are still recovering from the effects of the pandemic:
• Staff availability is still very limited.
• Many clinics have had to reduce hours or close, driving extra traffic to those that are still open.
• The USA pet population is at an all-time high, further increasing demand.
• There are also postponed appointments to catch up on.
• Additional safety precautions that increase procedure times.
Together, we can ensure your pet continues to get the personalized care it deserves: Schedule non-emergency appointments well in advance, allow for longer turnaround on refills & requests, & plan for potential delays during your visit.
