🚨 IMPORTANT PET MICROCHIP UPDATE 🚨

Attention pet parents! 🐶🐱 The Save This Life microchip company has officially shut down, and their pet recovery database is no longer accessible. This means if your pet is registered with them, their microchip information is no longer searchable in the national database.
⚠️ Please note: This is not a company we use at Center Vet, but we want to ensure all pet owners are aware so no pets are left unprotected.

🔍 What You Need to Do:
1️⃣ Get your pet’s microchip number – If you don’t have it on file, visit your vet or local shelter to have it scanned.
2️⃣ Check where your pet’s microchip is registered – If you have the number but are unsure of the company, visit https://www.aaha.org/for-veterinary-professionals/microchip-search/
3️⃣ Re-register the microchip with a new provider. You do NOT need a new microchip—just update the registration!
4️⃣ Choose a new registry:
✅ HomeAgain – www.homeagain.com
✅ 24Petwatch – www.24petwatch.com
✅ AKC Reunite – www.akcreunite.org

🆘 A microchip only works if it’s registered! Don’t wait—make sure your pet’s info is up to date so they can always find their way home. 🏡❤️

🐾 Meet Michelle! 🐾

From spending 14 years as a cashier at Petco to taking a leap into grooming, Michelle’s passion for animals led her to Center Vet—where she has been for the past seven years, and couldn't be happier!

💬 "I love making pets look their very best and seeing the transformation from before to after. I also enjoy being patient with them, ensuring they feel comfortable throughout the grooming process. Performing medical grooms for severely matted pets is especially rewarding—helping them feel safe and refreshed again."

🏡 Pets: Two Ragdoll cats and six dogs, including a rescued Cane Corso, two Pomeranians, two French Bulldogs, and an English Bulldog.
✂️ Favorite part of the job: Helping pets look and feel their best, especially those in need of medical grooming.
☕ Go-to drink: Matcha! 🍵
🎉 Fun fact: Michelle is half Filipino and half Chilean.
🛋 Favorite way to relax: Spending time with her pets and family.
💡 Pet advice: Always prioritize your pet’s comfort and well-being through regular grooming, proper nutrition, and routine vet care. A happy pet makes for a happy home!

Stay tuned to meet more of our amazing team! 🐶🐾

🌱⚠️ **Toxic Plants to Watch Out For** ⚠️🌱

Did you know some common houseplants and garden favorites can be dangerous for your furry friends? 🐶🐱 Keep your pets safe by avoiding these toxic plants:

🚫 **Lilies**: Highly toxic to cats—just a small nibble can cause kidney failure.
🚫 **Aloe Vera**: Great for humans, but not for pets! It can cause vomiting and lethargy.
🚫 **Pothos (Devil’s Ivy)**: Beautiful but harmful, causing oral irritation and digestive issues.
🚫 **Sago Palm**: Extremely dangerous—ingestion can lead to liver failure.
🚫 **Philodendron**: A common houseplant that can irritate your pet’s mouth and stomach.

🐾 **What to Do if Your Pet Ingests a Toxic Plant:**
- Call the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at **(888) 426-4435** for guidance.
- After consulting ASPCA if call the office 858-217-1152 if an exam/treatment is recommended

🌿 For a full list of toxic and non-toxic plants, visit the ASPCA’s guide: **[aspca.org/toxic-plants](https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control/toxic-and-non-toxic-plants)**.

💡 When in doubt, always research a plant before bringing it home. Let’s keep our homes safe and pet-friendly! ❤️

With the devastating fires currently affecting the LA area, now is a crucial time to review or create your evacuation plan. Here in San Diego, we are no strangers to wildfires, and preparation can make all the difference. Our hearts go out to all those affected by the wildfires in LA. 💔 Let’s come together to support each other and stay prepared.

🐾Steps to Take Now:

*Review or create an emergency evacuation plan for your family and pets.
*Prepare a go-bag for your pets with essentials like food, medications, leashes, toys, and any comfort items they may need.
*Ensure your pet’s microchip and tags are updated with current contact information.
*Know your evacuation routes and stay informed with local alerts.
