Follow for weekly dog training content, tips, and tricks 🐶Today’s topic: how to get a dog in the crate that does NOT like the crate 👇🦴
The goal with this one is to slowly but surely get your dog to be comfortable with their crate.
1️⃣ So, first things first, we are rewarding just for getting close to the crate. Dog owners, you should be using some leash guidance and leash tension for this, inching your way closer to the crate. Keep doing this until you start to see your dog getting more comfortable near their crate.
2️⃣ Keep doing step 1 until your dog is comfortable getting even one or two paws inside the crate. The goal with this is to slowly keep introducing the crate further and further until your dog is in! ✅🐾
3️⃣ One last way to do this is to take your crate door all the way off, and help lift up your dog’s back legs into the crate once they have already place their front paws in it.

Follow for weekly dog training tips, tricks, and videos! Today we’ve got a hot topic: “shock collars” ⚡️👇
Problem: 🚫
The BIGGEST mistake we see dog owners often making with their “shock collars” is actually using it as a shock collar! ❌
Essentially, dog owners are correcting their dogs for unwanted behavior with the collar instead of offering an alternative & positive behavior that they should do instead.
Solution: ✅
We suggest using the “shock collar” to be more like a tap on the shoulder and paired up with a command like “come” “sit” or “place” so that way, if your dog is doing an unwanted behavior, you can tap the collar and they know to do one of those other commands.
Also known as “Remote Collars” or “E-Collars,” these collars often have a bad reputation in certain groups in the dog training community. Similar to prong collars, “shock collars” actually WILL NOT hurt your dog as long as you, the dog owners, are using them properly and safely with your dogs!
PROT TIP: 👍
The key is to use your remote collar low and slow. This means using it at the lowest possible setting your dog responds to, taking it slow, and not using it all of the time.

Subscribe for weekly dog training videos👇How to “Place” train your dog with a Remote Collar / E-Collar ⚡️
Step 1️⃣ Pick out an area or spot in your house that you want to be your dog’s “place” 🏡🐕
Step 2️⃣ Say “place” while using gentle leash tension to guide your dog to their designated place while simultaneously tapping the remote
Step 3️⃣ Once your dog is on their place, wait for eye contact, say “yes” and then guide them off their place and reward on your leg 🦴🐾
PRO TIP: make sure you keep your hand out of the food pouch while training and ONLY put your hand in the pouch when you are about to reward your dog 🐩
Disclaimer: E-Collars will NOT hurt your dog as long as you, the dog owner, uses them responsibly. Take the time to figure out the lowest possible setting that your dog responds to on the E-Collar. Remember guys, it’s not a shock collar, it’s supposed to be used more like a tap on the shoulder.

If this is your first time putting an E-collar on your dog, you will quickly see how confused your dog is when you try it out. They might scratch at the collar when you press it or even just lay down. 🤔⁉️
1️⃣ The first thing you should do is find their threshold. What does this mean? Finding the absolute lowest setting that they respond to. What does a typical response to the e-collar look like? You will see a little twitch or slight movement; anything more than that means the setting is too high 📈
2️⃣ Once you found the lowest setting they respond to, tap once and reward. This is letting your dog learn that the e-collar is a good thing and means they get rewarded 🦴🌭
3️⃣ Start moving! Walk forward then walk backward and tap the remote, using leash tension if needed 🚶♀️🐕
4️⃣ Repeat step 3 but this time when you tap the remote, say the command “Come!” This is a great way to get your dog comfortable and used to the e-collar.

👉👉 The 3 MOST IMPORTANT things to know and understand in dog training.
1️⃣ Patience ⏱️
2️⃣ Consistency ♻️
3️⃣ Positive Reinforcement 📈
Although easier said than done, having all three of these very important traits as a dog owner can be extremely difficult.
Hiring a dog trainer can help you solidify these 3 key factors into your day to day life and become an excellent dog owner.
Think of hiring a dog trainer the same as hiring a fitness coach. They can help you create a workout schedule, plan a healthy diet, and overall accomplish your long term goals. 💪
A dog trainer is very much the same and can help you be patient while you learn to train your dog, help you be consistent with the training, and teach you the right ways to reward your pup and use positive reinforcement techniques.

How to crate train your dog with an E-collar⚡️🔋🔌👇
Here’s a training secret: whenever you talk to your dog (IE giving them a command), make sure you have absolutely NO food in your hand. Wait till after they listen and give eye contact and THEN reward ✅🦴
STEP 1️⃣ We’re starting with a little warm up. Guide your dog into the crate with gentle leash tension and say “good” and reward them once your dog is in the crate 🌭🐶
STEP 2️⃣ Take a step back from the crate, wait for eye contact, and say “Yes!” then guide them OUT of their crate and reward on your leg 👀✅
STEP 3️⃣ Introducing the remote - guide your dog back into the crate with the leash while simultaneously tapping the remote. Once your dog is in their crate, reward! Then get them out and reward again 🏠🦴
STEP 4️⃣ Same thing as step 3 but with NO LEASH. Tap on your remote, let your dog register what it means and learn it on their own, and reward once your pup is in the crate! 📝🐕
STEP 5️⃣ pairing the command with the remote. With your dog outside of the crate, say “Crate!” and tap the remote. With enough repetitions of steps 1-4, your dog should now know what the remote collar and command mean 🗣️🐶✅

First steps in getting your dog to walk on the leash
Follow for weekly dog training tips, tricks, and content! Today’s topic: Teach your dog to hold the down ⬇️🐕
The answer is yes, your dog should already know the down command - the goal with this is to get them to HOLD the down ⏰
Step 1️⃣ With your dog ideally on their dog bed, say the command “down”. 🗣️
Step 2️⃣ Hold their food in your hand at the foot of their dog bed to help encourage them to get into the down position. 🐶
Step 3️⃣ Using some gentle leash tension, pull down toward the ground to further assist them into the down position. 👇👍
Step 4️⃣ here is where the duration portion of getting your dog to hold the down comes in. You can continue to hold their leash at ground level along with their food in your hand. 🦴🌭
Step 5️⃣ once you’re happy with the results, tell them “free!” and reward them OFF of their dog bed. 🛏️
Try this out and let us know how much you enjoy the results!💪✅
