CLEAR THE SHELTERS is on until September 10 with discounted adoption fees.

As a reminder, we've extended our adoption hours from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays at all of our shelter campuses! By extending these hours, our goal is to help more pets like Mikey (916430) find families and provide our community with more convenient options to visit our shelters.

And don't forget — adoption fees for ALL animals are 50% off through Sept. 10 for Clear the Shelters!

Sharing! All animal lovers, lets help our furry friends from being stuck in a shelter with possible euthanasia. SPAYING AND NEUTERING is actually a life saving option you are giving to your pets (and strays) from preventing unplanned litters and unfortunate pregnancy problems to deal with.

Pet owners, we really need your help. We are struggling with record numbers of animals in care, and many of these pets are entering our doors as unplanned litters of puppies or kittens. If your pet is not yet spayed or neutered, we are urging you to make a lifesaving impact by scheduling your pet for this routine procedure.

Spaying or neutering your animal reduces their risk of developing certain cancers and life-threatening infections. Plus, it can improve behavior driven by hormones, such as marking or irritability.

But this procedure is not just beneficial to you and your pet — it also helps address overpopulation at its source, reducing the number of animals who enter shelters. We will care for more than 40,000 animals this year alone, but we need our entire community of pet families to come together to make a lasting impact and help us be there for animals in most need of support.

It's up to all of us to help San Diego County stay at zero euthanasia of healthy or treatable shelter pets — and having your own pets spayed or neutered is one important way to contribute to this effort. Please speak with your veterinarian to learn more about this service. I just love taking care of this pack of dogs! They all have their own personality!

CHAMP- I call him Champers because he likes to chomp (nibble) at me every time I arrive. That’s his happy hello!

POPPY- She was so shy with me at first but now she loves doing her zoomies every time I arrive. She’s just so cute!

To my human moms & dads, this is what happens to my paws when you take me out in the scorching sun ☀️ when the pavement is so hot !

Remember I sweat through my paws, so in this heat I can’t get rid of my sweat as my paws are burning. Missing my walk won’t harm me. Please let me just relax indoors and take me out when the sun is down🐾

If you see someone walking their dog on hot pavement, ask them to take off their shoes for the remainder of their walk home. Maybe then they'll understand.
