This is Penny or Little Green Riding Hood! 😄 Penny had an ear infection, which led her to shake her head a lot, and that caused a condition called an aural hematoma. This is a special kind of ear "bruise" that causes a big pocket of blood to fill up and get trapped by the cartilage in the ear. It often requires surgery in order to fix it, like Penny had. Then they get a cute little bonnet to wear to keep them from shaking their head and causing further trauma to the ear. Happy healing, Penny!

Check the Pavement First! If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.

Asphalt can reach 130°F+ on sunny days—enough to burn paw pads in seconds.

Walk your dog early in the morning or later in the evening, and stick to grass or shaded paths whenever possible.
