Check out Kirby's incredible dental journey.
Thanks to the recommendation of Dr. Wood, Kirby's family decided to embark on this adventure to improve his dental health. After examinng the x-rays, it was clear on what needed to be done. Being an English Bulldog, we decided to stage Kirby's dental to minimize his time under anesthesia. And guess what? Kirby handled it like a champ!
Stay tuned for Kirby's next visit, as we continue to work towards that perfect Bulldog smile. π

Each of these structures is a developing follicle, which most reptiles produce. Once fertilized, each of these follicles could become an egg! π₯ It is normal for female reptiles to produce follicles even without a mate, but sometimes they can cause issues if the animal is also ill or not provided the appropriate husbandry it needs. π
At SoMa Animal Hospital, we understand the unique needs of reptiles and have a team of experienced veterinarians and veterinary staff who are skilled in reptile care and handling. ππ¦ Our priority is ensuring that your scaly companion receives the proper care it needs! π

You and your pet may see that appointments and treatments take a little longer than other hospitals because we strive to establish a relationship with your animal and work hard to preserve their trust. Our goal is to take a more considerate approach to how we interact with and care for your pets.
SoMa Animal Hospital is working hard to potentially become the first Fear Free Certified Hospital in the Bay Area - so you may see us continue to change and update our protocols as we continue to improve ourselves! If you have any questions about how our Fear Free approach may differ from other hospitals, we welcome you to come by for a snack for your dog at our Treat Bar in the lobby or schedule an appointment with any one of our doctors!
We diagnose a lipoma by taking a sample with a small needle, staining it on a slide, and then looking at the cells under a microscope (a fine needle aspirate). Lipomas are characterized by fat cells with no evidence of infection or other tumor cells. We recommend a fine needle aspirate of any lump you notice on your pet, as microscopic examination is necessary for an accurate diagnosis to help us differentiate benign (non-cancerous) from malignant (cancerous) tumors.
Please take note of our upcoming schedule for the Fourth of July weekend. We want to ensure that you and your furry friends are well-informed:
