Some pet birds are inseparable from their owners ,even accompanying them on daily errands such as trips to bank or grocery store.

I could definitely use some tips, tricks, advice, whatever you have to offer.
I am an emergency rescue parent to this sweet Conure, Rascal. He is 4 years old. Several months ago, his mate flew into a wall and died. Rascal screamed and cried constantly and began feather plucking. Out of worry, his previous owner was looking for an emergency home for him rather than just letting him process it and stay there. She was afraid he was going to multilate himself to death. I HATE rehoming birds and I have no intention of doing so. It broke my heart that in the midst of losing his mate, now she wanted to rehome him to a stranger in a new home 😭😭. This poor baby has really been through some heartbreak and it makes me incredibly sad.
I have a flock of 3 other birds (Quaker and cockatiels). I’ve owned/fostered a LOT of birds my entire life but never a Conure.
I have plenty of toys for him, he is not caged. He can fly around if and when he likes and go anywhere he wants, just like my other birds. He doesn’t socialize with any of the others and he doesn’t really want to socialize with me, but I make sure he is in whatever room I am with the other birds so he isn’t alone and excluded. He will get on my finger and give me kisses but other than that, he’s a loner. He still pulls his feathers out no matter what I do. I love on him a lot but I know how to read his language and give him space. I never force him to come to me. He’s sweet. He doesn’t bite me at all. I realize it’s a big adjustment in 6 months.
Do any of you have any advice to offer about caring for a conure? I don’t need advice about how to care for birds in general - just specifically a Conure, or dealing with this kind of situation.

Here are some pics of my flock Mickey is our sun conure (male) , our teal green cheeks is next to him, her name is Minnie. (We were told Mikey and Min is we’re both dna tested and males when we bought them…but we had them tested and nope Minnie was a girl (yes we changed her name when we found out lol) On my husbands head is our Eclectus parrots. They are his babies. The red is a female her name is Autumn Rose, I call her Rosey, her brother is the green one, his name is Forest. They were named when we got them. They are still acclimating with our family. They are 3 and came from down South. The Cockatiel is a male, his name is W***y. The two green cheeks on the bottom are Lucy (female on the left) and Remi (male on the right). We love our feathered friends ❤️❤️

I think we found the best formula for Golden Conures. Why? It’s crazy how many breeders raise youngsters once they change to our Vital Pellets with their Golden Conures. Breeding Pairs do even breed twice a year successfully.
Arnold and I met this year in the Netherlands and we really enjoyed an afternoon at his amazing and super clean indoor aviary complex filled with golden conures, a huge collection of macaws & caiques. Arnold was one of the first breeder in the Netherlands that included our Vital Pellets to his breeding station.
It seems everything he did, was the right choice. I’m very happy for him an his wife - they have definitely earned it!
For golden conures it’s very important to receive a high amino acid diet consisting out of minimum 6 different amino acids and a very intense Vitamine and mineral balance. Arnold feeds the Vital Pellets fruit blend + a great choice of nuts which he imports and trade in the Netherlands (he has a great choice of different nuts).

We added this beautiful pineapple/cinnamon to our flock yesterday. The breeder did a DNA test but we won't know for about a week. We're stumped on ideas for a name. Any suggestions?
