I just was reading a thread about an owner that was outraged when their vet called their seven year old pup a senior.
OUTRAGED!
I call all pups puppies, including the near 20 year old I walk.
Seven is indeed considered senior. The average life expectancy is 10-12 considering all breeds.
Seven is indeed senior for a dog like a Weim or Lab, elderly for a Dane but may only by middle age for a Chihuahua or a poodle.
Funny, I just turned 62 and was asked at a bakery if I identified as a senior for a discount.
I said, “No. Absolutely not. I identify as a wrinkled 14 year old, but yeah, gimme the discount!”
It’s a just a number. Not a way of life. Wanna laugh? Giving birth after 35 is considered a geriatric pregnancy. A number doesn’t tell you you’re old. It’s a badge of honor many are not afforded.

#Arnie is the greatest dog. Adopted over six years ago from Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, he must be near 19 now. Blind as long as I’ve known him, he has a love of life.
