Namaste Akita Rescue Alliance We are a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization, dedicated to the rescue, rehoming & welfare of Akita dogs in need.

Namaste Akita Rescue, a California non-profit organization dedicated to rehoming and to place and adopt Akitas in need. The plight and background of every Akita in our program are unique, however, they all share the same hope of finding loving, compassionate homes. We put a great deal of careful thought and consideration into choosing a name for our organization. It was important to choose somethi

ng that epitomized what it is that inspires us to rescue the breed we love and cherish. We also wanted a name that when
spoken, would serve as a constant reminder to us to always be true to the breed. Regardless of beliefs, experiences, or paths in life, the word Namaste has many translations however it is universally recognized as one of peace, honor and respect. For us, the single most meaningful translation is best summed up in one simple phrase, "The spirit in me honors the spirit in you". We honor the spirit of a breed who survived near extinction in World War II, and managed to thrive again through the will of the breed and the efforts of many. We honor the breed which was declared Japan’s National Monument. We honor and respect the breed whose ancestry dates back centuries to one of the oldest of native dogs. We honor the untainted spirit of the Akita breed. We are committed to the welfare of these Akitas. We are a small but dedicated group of volunteers with full-time jobs and families and animals of our own. We have only a few individuals to do the task of many. Each juggles a multitude of tasks necessary to care for the dogs in our program and ensure they are ready and well prepared to be placed in forever homes. Our volunteers spend their weekends and evenings evaluating applications, walking and socializing the dogs, taking them to veterinary appointments, grooming and training them, and tending to their needs. Our focus is on the Akitas at risk of euthanasia in our local shelters. We also assist Akita owners who are unable to keep their Akitas and need a safe way to re-home them. Ideally, we hope to be able to provide assistance and resources for those owners to find solutions to challenges that would otherwise prevent them from keeping their dogs. Namaste Akita Rescue is located in Northern California in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization.

The deadline for our Holiday Fundraiser is quickly approaching and we have extended the deadline to November 20 to purchase the Dog Advent Calendars. They are the perfect gift for all dogs, your grand dogs, dog nieces and nephews or a favorite canine you know. Your purchase will impact the lives of less fortunate Akitas who still wait for their forever homes.

With the donations we received last year, we were able to help Saya. Saya was turned into a shelter emaciated and terribly neglected. Time was not on her side in a rural, over-crowded shelter. It is a tragic but common story for a young dog who should have had her whole life ahead of her. Once under our wing, we immediately began providing the necessary medical care, love, and nutrition she so desperately needed. She has blossomed and thanks to her new mom, now enjoys regular social activities with her pack of canine buddies who romp off leash on the beaches of San Francisco.

Please share with your doggy friends and family. We appreciate your support!

Please share! Tobi is game for adventure and deserves to have that special someone to accompany him in life. He is playful and has a welcoming aura about him. He also has an unabashed, confident side to him.

Tobi's not sure how he ended up here, and we're making sure he never has to wonder that ever again. He is best as an only dog and someone with previous Akita experience is best. Tobi is about 5 years old and 95 pounds of love.

💔💔LAST CALL FOR CALYPSO 💔💔 URGENT!

I am tearfully sending out the FINAL PLEA for Calypso ~ This girl is SUPER sweet, with a great temperament and personality! Calypso’s skin condition has improved dramatically and she deserves a chance to live her golden years.

Please see the information below, if you can help we need you NOW!

Hello,
We are seeking rescue for Calypso ID: A580498. Calypso is listed as a 10-year-old female Jindo, she was brought in by a field officer on 1/26/24. Upon intake it was noted that she appeared to have red patches of irritated skin, missing fur, and injury to the eye. As of 2/6 Calypso’s medical records state the Pyoderma is improving, still has OD drainage, possibly entropion for malformed eyelid margins. Our veterinarian recommends rescue.

In our interactions with Calypso, she is easy to leash and walk; very interested in her surroundings and loves to be outside. Calypso is attention seeking, she allowed all over touch and even attempted to sit on my lap. Slightly interested in treats and took the very gently. We tested Calypso with another female and she showed little to no interest after a quick sniff to check her out.
We would love to see Calypso go to rescue that is able to treat her eye discharge and continue to monitor her skin condition until she is back to the healthy, beautiful girl that she deserves to be!

If you can help Calypso, we are seeking rescue tag and pull for this sweet girl by 4:30pm on Saturday 2/17/24.

HNY!
Congratulations Saya! Adopted on 12/30/23.

She is pictured surrounded by her fan club, aka “world’s best kennel staff”! They wanted to be sure they sent her off with love in her heart. They care for and provide love and enrichment for our Akita orphans. As our last adoption of the year, Saya helped us bid farewell to 2023 and welcome the new year with hope and optimism.

It truly was love at first sight for both Saya and her new mom!

This stunning 8 yr. old grand dame arrived at NARA this afternoon. We would love to find a foster home for her while she waits for her forever home. Kennel life is not ideal even though our kennel is incredible in the care they provide to all of our Akitas.

In just the short few hours after her arrival, this is the impact she immediately had on the kennel staff.

"I think we've all fallen in love with her already! She is so pretty and so sweet. We are so lucky to have met her and get to love her until she finds her forever home."
