Fred* has a secret: She is a CHAMPION cuddler.

When we first met Fred, she expressed lots of discomfort through shy and anxious body language (ears back, tail tucked, hesitant to approach). Her dads were worried we’d be scared of her barking, but we understood Fred was just expressing big feelings. We went at Fred’s pace, offering lots of treats and relaxed presence, and letting Fred take the lead in our relationship.

Now we can’t get Fred off the couch with us.

If your dog is like Fred, they’re in good company. Fred is just one of our many clients who need slow, thoughtful introductions to new people!

*Fred is the small white dog. Her sister, London Grace, is floofy black.

A little walk date with Luna 🌙

Hanging out with London Grace and Fred this weekend.

Chewing and licking behaviors are important natural ways that dogs self-soothe! I introduced Luna 🌙 to a Kong today to see if this might be helpful for her, and stuffed it with peanut butter and a few of her favorite treats to get her interested. For longer-lasting fun, you can also fill the Kong with peanut butter 🥜 or broth 🐔 and freeze it! 🧊 It's not particularly warm in SF today, but a frozen Kong is a particularly great option for a hot summer day. Kongs are especially great for strong chewers -- I don't think I've met a dog who has been able to destroy a Kong yet.
