Rescue the Underdog is a foster based, non profit dog rescue in the Bay Area. Some are strays, some are surrendered simply because they are “old”.

Rescue the Underdog is a small San Francisco based, volunteer-run organization that saves dogs from being euthanized in high kill shelters. We are part of Center for Animal Rescue and Education in Solano, a 501(c)(3) organization.

Most of the dogs are rescued from the Central Valley, often hours before being put down. Rescue the Underdog tries to save as many dogs as we can, with our goal being

to save them all. We take dogs that no other rescue will take. So we might end up with unpopular breeds, older dogs, dogs who need special medical care, or dogs who need to be socialized. We also have plenty of young, healthy, well-adjusted dogs who are abandoned for no apparent reason. We do everything we can to save them all, get them the medical care they need, socialize them, and place them in loving foster homes, eventually to be adopted into forever homes. Our dogs are special, and many of them need adopters who will give them time to adjust and feel safe in their loving new homes. Our reward is in saving these precious lives and seeing the joy that we bring to people's lives when they find their perfect match in an Underdog. There is no greater joy than to see an underdog's transformation, from the time they are pulled from the shelter to when they are adopted by a loving family. Meet Paris from

Despite a horrific past, this sweet girl has made remarkable progress in her foster home. She’s a gentle soul and has never shown any aggression whastover towards her foster mom despite having to follow a strict regimen of meds the first week she was out of the shelter.

Cautious at first, she opens up quickly and can’t get enough cuddles, attention, and love. It’s like she’s trying to catch up for lost time, and honestly, who can blame her?

You’ll need to earn her trust, but once you do, she’ll be your shadow. Paris quickly figured out the doggie door and was house trained within a few days (she has free access to the backyard). She currently lives with 2 other small dogs (and a cat + bearded dragon) and an active 8yr old and gets along well with everyone. Now that she’s had time to fully decompress, she’s starting to become more playful and showing her personality quirks.

She could be adopted as the only dog (she would probably enjoy being the center of attention) or join other 4 legged friends.

FOSTER NEEDED FOR LENNOX!

Lennox was adopted in 2022 but recently found as a stray. We recently rescued him from

He was participating in doggy play groups. He’s a great dog ❤️ 55 lb neutered. Please help if you can. Details below.

Notes: We took this boy out to playgroup, he did well overall met each dog, had a medium energy level so he wasnt too much for the calm dogs and he tolerated the high energy dogs. Overall a good dog to have in playgroup.

⭐️ Lennox is a happy easy-going pup and has a pretty perfect temperament. Tolerant of all-over touch, picking him up, checking his teeth, nothing really phased him. He just wants to play! He’s a bundle of energy that’s easily managed with a game of fetch (which he loves!). He brings the toy back and let me take it from his mouth without issue.

🐾 Meet Lennox! 🖤 This handsome boy captured our hearts when he was adopted through Rescue the Underdog in 2022. Now, he’s back with us after a stint as a stray, but his spirit remains as bright as ever!

Lennox is a 55 lb bundle of love, neutered and ready to find his forever home once again. His recent participation in doggy play groups has revealed his wonderful temperament - he’s a champ with a medium energy level, making him a great fit for various play styles.

⭐️ Lennox’s playful demeanor shines through, making him a joy to be around. He’s tolerant of all kinds of affection and loves nothing more than a good game of fetch. Plus, he’s a social butterfly, testing well with other dogs and radiating happy energy wherever he goes.

Rescue the Underdog is on a mission to save dogs currently at our partner shelter . They recently rescued 86 dogs from a hoarding case in Ceres, CA. All were taken in by the shelter, and all remaining dogs are seeking loving care. We need your help! All pups have been queued for rescue and are ready to find loving foster homes immediately.

These precious pups are all male Chihuahua mixes, ranging from Chi-Terriers, Norfolk Chihuahuas to Chi-Doxie mixes. Each one has a unique personality and is longing for a caring environment to thrive in.
