Take a look at the first adoption of Holiday Windows at @macysunionsquaresf! 🥰 Disco and Inferno’s adopter was visiting SF with her daughter and happened upon the windows last week. She had lost her husband and was looking for companions to fill her home. The Airport Fire in Southern California has rendered hundreds of cats and dogs homeless. As families evacuate–the shelters down there are becoming overwhelmed. Our friends at OC Animal Shelter asked for support making space for victims of the fire, so we went down to help. 🚙💕 We now have a lot of SoCal transplants in need of forever homes so visit them all at our adoption center! 🐱🐶🐾#SheltersHelpingShelters

Cat reunited with owner after years of being lost 🥹

It's National Check the Chip Day! Microchipping your pets and keeping the information up-to-date is essential, especially in emergency situations. Microchips can save lives and reunite families, as proven by the heartwarming story of Nanja, a lost cat from San Jose who found his way to the SF SPCA and back again. 💕 Nanja's family had just welcomed a new baby when the unthinkable happened— Nanja went missing. Despite searching tirelessly, Nanja's dad was never able to find their beloved kitty. After multiple years went by, Nanja was thought to be gone forever. Then, on Valentine's Day 2024, SF SPCA staff were scanning for microchips on cats from our Community Cats Program. The program partners with communities and volunteers to provide spay and neuter services for free-roaming, feral cats. Among the cats being scanned that day, one had a microchip. ✨ Thankfully, Nanja's family had made sure to microchip him and keep their contact info updated! His mom rushed from San Jose, and the two were finally reunited after all those years apart. It was a truly heartwarming reunion, and there was no doubt that Nanja remembered and missed his long lost owner. Meet Dot, a one-year-old gal with the longest whiskers! 🐱 She's found herself back at the shelter and we were happy to welcome her into her temporary home.
