National Veterinary Technician Week
Hello everyone, this week has been Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week.
From performing TNR surgeries to getting pets ready for adoption with spays, neuters, and vaccines, these heroes are non-stop in their mission to keep our furry friends happy and healthy. They put in the long hours, handle all the crazy (yes, even when Fluffy doesnât exactly cooperate), and still manage to make every animal feel like the most special one in the room.
We, at RCDAS, wanted to say thank you to all of our Vet Techs. Your hard work and dedication doesn't go unnoticed.

Compton Pigeon Reunited After Found In Thousand Palms
Hello everyone, this bird found itself a long way from home.
It was found on a porch in Thousand Palms, CA and was unable to fly for 2 days. Thankfully some kind souls took the bird into our Coachella Valley Animal Campus.
We discovered that the bird had a tag and did all we could to get in contact with the owner. The owner was contacted and was reunited with the bird at the Western Riverside Animal Shelter. The bird was anle to return to its home in Compton, CA safe and sound.
Thank you to everyone who helped reunite the bird and its owner!

World Rabies Day
Hello everyone, today is World Rabies Day, September 28, 2024.
To help bring awareness of this very fatal virus, we would like to share some tips to help keep you and all your loved ones safe.
Tip 1: Ensure that all your animals are vaccinated and all vaccinations are up-to-date.
Tip 2: While outside, always use a leash to prevent the interaction of wild animals.
Tip 3: Avoid animals such as bats, raccoons, skunks, foxes and strat animals and teach your children to avoid as well.
Tip 4: Keep the wildlife out of your home by closing any small gaps within roofs, attics and garages. Do NOT leave any food laying around outside.
If by any chance that you may have been biten or scratched, wash the wounded area immediately with soap and water for 15 minutes. See you health care provider and they will evaluate if any additional follow up is needed.
At the Riverside County Department of Animal Services and Riverside University Health Services, we are dedicated to the health and well-being of all people and animals within our community. Stay safe friends!
