Pear, Cherry, and Apple back from 2023 πŸπŸ’πŸŽ Another older group of foster kittens ☺️ This period right now is considered the slow season for kittens and Mini Cat Town will typically intake older kittens during this time! This is actually perfect because a lot of new foster parents get onboarded around this time as well so it's a great opportunity for the newbies to get their feet wet with older (and usually easier) kittens.

Btw, if you live in the Bay Area, we would love to have you foster with us! Apply at minicattown.org 😊

Ziggy and Marley were my first litter in 2023! 🧑 These two were slightly older than the kittens I normally foster and were about 3-4 months of age. They also happened to be the most shy kittens I've ever fostered. They were fortunately adopted together by a couple who understood their shyness completely and loved them for it.

Popping in again to say wedding planning is insane! I think I've found a photographer/videographer and am working on find a hair and makeup artist at the moment πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

Cocoa and Peppermint, two very photogenic foster kittens from back in 2021! You can follow them at .pepper1 btw 😊

I know I've been pretty quiet so I'm just popping in to say it's been a tumultuous start of the year and with kitten season starting soon I'm looking forward to fostering again πŸ’œ However I do have to warn you that my typical "volume" of kittens is going to be much reduced this year: between work and wedding planning, I will be busier than usual and also traveling pretty much every other month. I still plan on fostering when I can though 😊

Oreo & my Poisonous Plants litter which also happened to be my final litter from 2022 😊

You would never know it but this litter was actually two separate litters!

🌿 Ivy (the little orange tabby) was found in a trash can πŸ₯Ί
🌸 Calla and Oleander (the two brown tabbies) were caught by someone who found them in his backyard! The finder eventually found two more littermates who ended up being fostered by another MCT foster parent.

Before this litter, it felt like Oreo just tolerated my foster kittens. Sure he liked Nemo and Momo but this litter just brought out the nurturing side of him and I'd always find him grooming them or sleeping with them πŸ’“ It was a turning point of sorts and from this point on, he seemed to enjoy having my foster kittens around (once he got over the initial hissy stage πŸ˜‚)

Fufu and Samosa from my Dumpling litter πŸ–€ Their siblings look completely different from them (which you'll see in my next post).

I have a soft spot for black kitties and tuxies. Anyone else feel the same? 😊

On a more serious note: I hope my LA area followers are safe πŸ’“ Having grown up in SoCal (and now living in the Bay Area), I've seen my share of crazy wildfires, orange skies, and ashes everywhere but seeing the devastation still ongoing just hurts my heart so bad. I really want to be mindful about what's going on and also to hopefully bring just a tiny bit of joy with kitten photos.

A quick weekend getaway to check out some wedding venues and to explore some points of interest that we probably wouldn't have known about otherwise!

Stinson Beach (pic 1) is a gorgeous little beach town with very chill vibes. The best part is that it wasn't crowded at all!

The Bungalow by Michael Mina (pic 2 and 3) Super yummy food with a great view of the water (pic 4).

On our drive around Tiburon, we came upon this beach/park that had a pier for people to fish off of. Also a memento of a wartime past with a piece of an anti-submarine net on display (pic 5)

Our minds were blown at the thought of a RAILROAD that once crossed the bay. You can see in pic 6 the former train depot in the distance and depicted in the sign.

The rest of the pictures were from our stop at a restored historical Nike missile launch site. We expected this stop to be quick with some photos and maybe some walking around but did not expect a full tour with interesting stories from former veterans who were stationed at the missile site. This location is part of the National Parks and to get to it (and another amazing beach), we had to drive through a tunnel in the hills. It was like entering a different world.

Theo, Kenai, Zion, and Rainier (the lone girl and the lone torbie) 🧑 I fostered this group in the summer of 2022. They were all adopted and Kenai and Zion were even adopted together 😊

People sometimes ask how a litter can be so mismatched! It turns out that a female cat can actually be impregnated by multiple males so a litter of kittens may actually have multiple dads πŸ˜… Kittens in a litter can also be conceived about a week apart which may account for size differences at birth.

Zuma, Pismo, Venice, and Solana πŸ–οΈ

The Beach kitties litter arrived in late spring, early summer 2022 and were such a cute fluffy bunch! After we resolved a case of tapeworm πŸͺ± they got right back on track and gained weight steadily.

I would guess 99% of kittens coming off the street have some kind of internal parasite which ends up messing with their appetite and their growth. Which is why it's so important as fosters to weigh regularly to catch these issues early on!

Zuma, Pismo, Venice, and Solana have all been adopted πŸ’“

I am happy to announce that Sabrina has completed her 84 days of observation, her blood test has come back, and the results are good! πŸŽ‰ Sabrina is officially cured of FIP πŸ’“

From last summer when she was literally near death to now as I see her happily running and playing and getting a little chunky, it's just so amazing and miraculous to see the difference. I'm so thankful and grateful for the advice and support from Mini Cat Town, my vet from Curtner Pet Clinic (highly recommend if you're in San Jose), and πŸ’œ

FIP is treatable and most importantly, treatment has become more accessible and affordable. I really hope any cat owners out there who are dealing with a diagnosis of FIP for their kitty are encouraged by Sabrina's story to seek out help and to continue to hope!

So...it's my quiet period before kitten season starts up! Currently Mini Cat Town has been intaking older kittens from rescue partners and many of the experienced fosters are letting newer fosters have first dibs on those litters as they are generally easier and the time frame for fostering is shorter. Also, I personally think that if we can get a new foster to take a litter sooner rather than later, they are more likely to stay around as a foster.

As I wait for kitten season to start, I thought I'd share some fun sibling photos from my vast archive of kitten pics ☺️ These two are Dot and Dash and I fostered them back in 2022! They were happily adopted together and are living life to the fullest with a friend of mine (.dot).

They were from my very first litter that year and were the two survivors out of a litter of 5. The start of 2022 was probably my toughest year as I lost 5 kittens in the span of under a month (3 from Dot and Dash's litter and 2 from another). Neonatal kittens are fragile as disease and congenital disorders can really take it's toll even when you do everything you possibly can.

Happy adoption day to Tim and Tam! πŸŽ‰πŸ–€πŸ€πŸ–€

I can't tell you how happy I am that these two boys were adopted together! With complementary personalities, a love for playing together, sleeping together, even eating and drinking together, I was very hopeful they would be able to go to a good home together.

Luckily a family was looking specifically for bonded or sibling pairs for their first family pets. On their first visit to Mini Cat Town, they spotted Tim and Tam chasing and wrestling with each other and they fell in love. I was very fortunate to be able to sit in on the adoption meeting to answer questions about Tim and Tam and to meet the adopters 😊 Tim and Tam decided to spend their adoption meeting sleeping and making biscuits on the bed they were sharing πŸ˜‚

Going to miss these guys! Happy life Tim and Tam! Love you forever 🩡

And with that, all my foster kittens have been adopted! I'm looking forward to more kitten adventures in 2025 😺

βͺ 2024 Foster Rewind: Tam 🍫

And finally, we have Tam! 😊 Again, the same awkward looks as his brother when he was a tiny kitten but he's grown up to be very handsome and fluffy!

Tam has a penchant for kneading and suckling on blankets and even air; which confused people who thought he was panting. Nope, he's just a funny little guy πŸ˜‚ While I love holding and cuddling all my kittens, Tam was probably my favorite kitten to cradle because he just relaxed. Sometimes he'd pat my face with his paws (and no claws!) which I adored 😍

He's a friendly fella too and loves to play and make friends with guests. A fellow foster visited Mini Cat Town one day and Tam came up to her and hugged her leg 🩡

Tam is still looking for his forever home so if you think his home could be with you, apply to adopt at minicattown.org πŸ’•

βͺ 2024 Foster Rewind: Tim 🍫

Shortly after bringing home Kit and Kat, I brought home Tim and his brother Tam so they could grow up together! Awkward and sad eyed with a nasal issue, how could I not love him? πŸ˜‚ It also helped that he was so friendly and snuggly. All he wanted to do was make friends; with me, my fiance, my resident cats, Kit and Kat, other kittens at the Mini Cat Town events, and with guests πŸ’œ

Tim's chapter at Mini Cat Town is not yet over. He is still looking for his forever home! I hope his forever family finds him soon 🩡 If you think you may be his forever family, you can meet him or apply to adopt him at minicattown.org

Psst...he also has a brother, Tam, that would love a home too! 😊

βͺ 2024 Foster Rewind: Kat 🍫

The first thing I noticed about Kat was just how loud she was πŸ˜‚ This girl had a voice and she wanted to use it! Typically she loved yelling at me around wet food mealtimes (which was her favorite thing to eat!). The second thing I noticed about Kat was just how mischievous she was...and how she influenced her sister to be a little naughty too πŸ˜‚

Things I couldn't stop them from doing: escaping the playpen, jumping on counters, jumping and climbing on me, etc πŸ˜‚

As mentioned, Kat was adopted along with her sister, Kit, and another Mini Cat Town kitten, Meadow! So their new family definitely has their hands and hearts full with these kittens 😊 Apparently Kit and Kat don't like being separated, even at home, they will call for each other if they can't see each other! πŸ₯Ή

βͺ 2024 Foster Rewind: Kit 🍫

In more recent foster history, there were these four kittens from two separate litters that I had the joy of fostering during the last months of 2024! First up is Kit who is probably one of the most photogenic and easily photographable kittens πŸ˜‚

Usually kittens are quite squirmy or move around way too much to capture their good side in photos but Kit understood the assignment and knew it was in her best interest to be photographed well πŸ˜‚ Looking through these photos, don't you agree?

She was such a funny outgoing kitten too and managed to look very innocent and demure πŸ’• Kit was adopted very recently along with her sister (Kat) and another Mini Cat Town kitten (Meadow) which I think was a great choice by their adoptive family!
