Chlorophyll is the natural compound in plants that give them their green color. It helps them to absorb energy from the sun as they grow. Chlorophyll a potent antioxidant and blood purifier and is essential in the diet for a healthy, oxygen-rich blood supply. This powerful antioxidant is known to fight infections by altering the growth of bacteria, especially odor-causing bacteria. For this reason, it is not just a great detoxifier, but a natural deodorizer as well. Chlorophyll also stimulates tissue cell activity and its normal cell regrowth. Therefore it is essential in the diet for rebuilding blood and tissues damaged by toxic chemicals.

In the 1940's Charles Kettering (a former VP and Director or Research for General Motors) donated money for the research of chlorophyll. It was studied intensively by medical doctors using FDA required standards. These medical doctors found that chlorophyll was a great healer and used it as such for quite some time. Why aren't we still using it today? Most likely because it isn't profitable. A product like chlorophyll can be grown quite easily in most kitchens and backyards unlike something lab-created, easily manufactured, and medically prescribed.

Here is an update on my peachtree cloning experiment. I started this project back in July 2022, harvesting, preparing, & germinating the seeds. I lost 12% to mold during the germination stage. Out of the 66 seeds I planted, 45 have now sprouted. That's a 60% success rate so far! Stay tuned as I continue the process from seed to plate. 🤗

I recently switched my chicken's feed for one with a higher protein % and, although it is difficult to see on camera, I am seeing a big difference in egg size, color, & production. 😄

On this grow-along we are sowing Broccoli, China rose radish, and a 3 part salad mix on TerraFibre 5×5 h**p grow mats. After wetting down the mats, we sprinkle our seeds across each mat, spritz them with water to moisten, then cover & put them under blackout to germinate. We'll check back on them in a couple of days. 🤞🌱

I'm testing out a new grow medium using Terrafibre H**p mats. I've never used anything other than organic soil to grow my microgreens but I'm always looking for a sustainable, cleaner, & more efficent way. Join me on this grow-along to see how this turns out. 😃

This 1931 novel was required reading for me back in high school & left such an impression on my young mind that to this day I will periodically reference it in my own life. It is also the inspiration for my business, Good Earth Microgreens. It tells the generational struggles of a Chinese farmer and his ties to "the earth" and how the earth is the key to survival... Hollywood made a film in 1937 and I think it's about time they did a remake. "O-lan, you are the earth." 😍

I've never cared for broccoli 🥦...until now. These broccoli microgreens are mild, not bitter AND because they are harvested just before their true leafs come in, they are more nutritious than the grown-up bunches of broccoli you buy at the grocery store! Oh yeah, these are a game changer!

Wow! Let's just take a moment to admire the yield on those peas! 👏😍 Confession- I get a little sad when it's time to harvest a microgreen flat. I enjoy the growth cycle so much that when it's time to harvest that luscious greenery, it's like ending something so beautiful.... BUT, it also brings me joy knowing that these amazing little superfoods will be going to help my customers thrive in their daily lives.
