Booboo
Beloved Pack member
2012 – 5.22.24
For all that are not in the private group and have had the benefit of Sharon and Booboo’s assistance and help with your dogs:
We say goodbye to Booboo. One of my friend/roommate Sharon’s beloved dogs, my little Sneaker’s best friend and one of our working pack and family members.
Boo had a wild heart. He liked everything his way and he was sure he could get you to do whatever he wanted. He was a different kind of dog. The deer loved him and would even let him be around their fawns. He protected the area that the fawns were at. He love to do what we called furminating. He would size up the furry dogs to chase and furminate them. My last dog Ace taught him how to really use his voice (not sure that was such a great thing) but my big dog Sox loved it. Sox and Booboo loved to run out the door and bark at each other loudly every morning and evening. Sneaker and Booboo loved to hang out and Sneaker loved grooming Booboo. Booboo and Ren helped many or our clients’ dogs to learn to be dogs again. Our home is a working home so all our dogs work using their particular gifts and talents. Booboo you will be missed and are loved deeply. Goodbye my K9 friend. Enjoy all of our K9 friends that have gone before you. I imagine my boy and your friend Ace meeting you as you left us and the two of you having a raucous reuniting. You are in great paws now my K9 freind. Enjoy the your pack in dog heaven.
Arlo enjoys the garden at his Breeders home as he waits for the perfect human companion to find him. Interested? Arlo is a Cockerpoo 5 1/2 month old. His breeder is in Sacramento so it is only 2 hours from the Bay Area. She is happy to have you come see Arlo in person. DM me if you want the info to talk with his Breeder Gail. I just finished up a 6 month training program with one of her dogs Buddy. Lovely little dog doing very well in his new home.
3.13.24 A little glimpse into today training session for 10 month old Buddy. Tail teaser work with Mentor Sox. Keep in mind that all the foundational work for this work has been put into place over the last couple of months. We are not just playing aimless to have fun. We are intentionally playing to build confidence, resiliency, mental focus and emotional flexibility.
2.12.24 Buddy practicing his doggie manners on an outing for lunch. As you will see we are using the target mat for staying in the chair while we dine outside.
2.9.24 Today we went to my favorite Empanada café to work on Buddy's doggie manners and learning to stay on his chair. We continue our matt work for this exercise. When out in public I keep the leash attached to me.
Back on 12.6.23 A little quick before video of Buddy's first outing to Starbucks. Buddy is going to be learning how to go out to cafe's and restaurants. When we do this work we want our puppy or dog to be mannerly and polite. No taking food from out hands, mouth or tables. Feel free to rate the cute factor.
11. 2023 Let's go back in time to see some of what went into Buddy's training. At the time of this video in November 2023 Buddy was going through a fear stage. Buddy was not so sure about people. This video is not meant to be a training video but a sharing of ideas video on: how to help a pup: using the trust in it's handler/trainer. The use of play, movement, scent and touch. There was foundation work done prior to doing this session. Meaning for two weeks Buddy has been doing the target work with the two main targets being the trampoline and the cot in the pen. Thank you to Henry and Ellie for the assistance.
Back to 11.2023 last video from our breakfast session. Puppy Buddy being introduced to "where's the pillow, "No" and "UT uh". "Yes" and encouraging him to use his nose and make to wise choices by using his breakfast for the payment. The work you see here we are now using in our present day work. A correction I am not sure if it is this video or the other one but I meant to say complex not complicate. When training their maybe many step that actually go into what you are teaching.
Back to 11.2023 Video #1 Puppy Buddy first starting on his journey. A little morning breakfast game to create teachable moments. We use the food, a pop top container, pots and pans, bench and trampoline.
Let's go back to November 2023 when Buddy was still a puppy and he first came to school. Buddy at 5months one week old. A little sharing of how I incorporate food, toys, play and introduction of negative and positive markers. This is the start of shaping the trampoline and the cot into our work.
1.20.24 The "Be polite exercise with Buddy, Astro, Sneaker, Sox and today Ren. I want the dogs to learn to be polite with each other and gentle with the handler when taking the food. One of the elements we need the dog to learn is how to be calm in the presence of not only each other but the food. If you use food a lot when they are puppies you may find that excited state of mind has been practiced a lot so calm maybe a challenge. In addition if you have a street dog sneaky strategic behaviors and the survival state of mind may need to be calmed. These are just a few elements one may need to consider.
1.19.24 One of many little exercises we do to help the dogs learn how to be polite. From left to right: 6 month 3 week old Astro, 7 month 3 week old Buddy, Senior citizen Booboo & Sneaker and Sox.
1.6.24 A little WW puppy smack down
1.6.24 Video #1. 6.1 month old Astro and 7.1 month only Buddy gets some puppy playtime. It is very important for adolescences to get playtime with dogs of their own age. There are many social skills for them to test out at this time. Owners need to balance out the health concerns with the social concerns that are very important at this time of development.
When Astro was 5 months old Bella started helping him to learn to play and build his confidence. Bella is a typical joyful friendly lab.
1.6.24 We invited our neighbor little Abby to come over with her doggie mom and meet 6 month old Astro. Let the doggie dance begin. Little Abby is full of piss and vinegar and Astro is not quite sure what to think of this little spitfire...lol.
Love to all. Merry Christmas!!!!
12.18.23 Following Buddy on his training journey. Learning how to interact and navigate both dog and human interactions are very important for adolescent dogs. When working with puppies and adolescents ideally I want to be able to be in the mix and handle them even when the play gets a bit rough. They need to learn not to use their teeth on humans yet it is okay for them to have a little teeth action on each other. When dogs and pups play they use all of their bodies. Play is how they build the relationship, social skills and learn how to communicate their intentions and emotions to each other. Okay let the short snippet begin...
11.17.23 Following Adolescent Buddy on his training journey: A little rag dolling with Buddy and the importance of learning to be touched. Don't miss the cute moment when my little senior citizen dog Sneaker loses his patience with sharing me and takes matters into his own four paws.
11.15.23 Follow Buddy on his training journey. This was day three for Buddy. Social time with Bella, Sneaker and and me. Watch how my little master teacher Sneaker helps Buddy by using body language. There is so much complex communication that goes on between dogs.
