Before the day ends, a Most Overlooked Dog Kylo (ID ) wanted to wish you a very happy Valentine’s Day. After 254 days in our shelter, he deserves to find his Pawfect Match soon!

Kylo is an older gentleman who loves slow sniffy walks. This guy is very treat motivated. He will sit even before you ask him if he knows treats are coming and will then proceed to give you both paws to show off and to get more treats. Kylo adores stuffy toys and can entertain himself for quite a while if he has his paws on one.

Even though Kylo may be a little older, he hasn’t lost his spark. He really enjoys training, especially when treats are involved. He can’t wait to show off all the tricks he knows to his new . Kylo is potty-trained too!

If Kylo has , come to our shelter at 2750 Monterey Road in San José to meet him. He can’t wait to meet his .

Did you know that February is recognized as Spay/Neuter Awareness Month? Well, we thought this was a great opportunity to share what amazing work our shelter and Humane Society Silicon Valley has been doing together.

In December, HSSV faced an unexpected challenge when a fire caused extensive damage to their facility, including their medical center. With their surgical space unusable, we knew we could help. Since then, HSSV has been using our TNR Clinic twice a week to continue their critical spay/neuter work – not just for adoptable animals but also pets of people experiencing barriers to care. In return, they’ve been performing surgeries for our shelter pets as well, ensuring that together, we’re making an even bigger impact for animals in need.

We’re honored to support HSSV during their recovery and grateful for this collaboration. Because when we work together, more lives are saved. 🐾💙

Happy Boi (ID ) was a very happy boy on his most recent Tails & Trails adventure! He just can’t wait to tell you about his .

“Today, I went to Almaden Lake Park with my friend! We took a looooooong walk along the lake, and I sniffed so many interesting scents. There were tons of people around—some were walking, others were biking, and a few were jogging. I spotted some ducks and geese, and wow, they can fly! I decided to keep a little distance from them, just to be safe.

The best part? I met so many doggy friends, and oh, I wanted to play with all of them! Later, I got a yummy pup cup and took a nice nap on the way back. My friend told me I was a VERY GOOD boy!"

Here is what Happy Boi’s thinks potential should know about him:

“Happy Boi is such a sweet dog once he gets to know you! He loved being petted and showered me with kisses during our outing. I’ve known him for a while now. Just remember to go at his pace and let him approach you first.

He was curious about new people and things, like ducks, geese and bikes, during our outing, but he was also a bit cautious. I think this is because he hasn’t been exposed to those experiences in a long time.

He’s very dog-friendly and often participates in dog playgroups. I noticed he really relaxed when he saw another dog during our outing.

🐾He is very smart. He has a solid sit and picks up new things very quickly.

🐾He’s treat-motivated and loves all the different treats I offered him

🐾He’s GREAT at riding in the car—very quiet and he settles down comfortably in the back seat.

🐾He can get a bit jumpy at times once he becomes familiar with you, but it's just because he wants your attention and love.

Wow, Happy Boi sounds he would be a great addition to his . If you are interested in him, come to our shelter at 2750 Monterey Road in San José to meet Happy Boi.

Chanel (ID ) really enjoyed her most recent Tails & Trails adventure with her new . She always loves her nice long breaks away from the shelter.

Here is what Chanel had to say about her adventure:

Today, I met a new friend, and we went for a walk around a park and its neighborhood. I was shy and nervous at first. I whined and barked a little to let my new friend know I was unsure in the car. I improved a lot on our way back, and my friend said I was such a good girl! I loved all the scents we encountered at the park. We saw runners, walkers, squirrels, birds, traffic, and other doggo friends. I remained polite and only greeted them from a distance.

I was sensitive to noise, especially toward passing traffic. My friend gave me lots of space and was patient, so it became less scary. I had a great time and would love more outings!

Chanel’s new adventure buddy wants potential adopters to know a few things about her:

“Chanel can be shy and nervous around new people. When I first met her at the shelter, her body posture was stiff, and she wasn’t interested in the treats I offered. I took it slow while putting her collar and harness on. Once I led her to my car, she hopped onto the backseat without my help. Patience and taking things slow are the keys when meeting Chanel.

Chanel has amazing loose-leash walking skills! She stayed close to me and focused for most of our walk. In addition, she is treat-motivated and doesn’t hesitate to show off her “sit” to earn a treat from you. Once she gets to know you, she seeks affection by offering her rump for a good butt scratch. Chanel needs a family that understands her unique needs and can provide her with the support she deserves.”

If you are interested in Chanel, come to our shelter at 2750 Monterey Road in San José to meet her. She would love for everyday to be an adventure like this.

We wanted to end our day with the best news ever! After almost a year in our shelter, Most Overlooked Dog Quintin was officially adopted yesterday.

On Monday evening Quintin’s new saw his plea to find his Pawfect Match. Once Quintin’s new saw his fetch skills, she knew Quintin was the dog for them. The very next day this wonderful couple came in and officially adopted him.

Quintin’s had adopted a shelter dog from us before many years ago. They loved playing fetch with their beloved dog and miss them dearly. After seeing Quintin’s post, they knew they were finally ready to open their home again.

Quintin is now living on three acres of fenced land and can play all the fetch he wants every single day. This couple truly is Quintin’s Pawfect Match as he is the only dog in their lives. He is now the center of their world just like he deserves and has found two best friends to call his own.

Prince Eric (ID ) had a wonderful Tails & Trails adventure with his new ! Check out what Prince Eric’s adventure partner had to say:

“Prince Eric is one of the cuddliest pups I’ve met at the shelter. I took him out for a day out at Almaden Lake Park and it was so much fun!

I was able to leash and harness him without any problem. He was not sure about the car at the beginning but happily let me help him to get into the car. Once in the car, he rode beautifully the entire way, laying down and playing with toys in the car.

We walked along the lake in the park and he happily sniffed everything. Along the trail, we ran into walkers, joggers, cyclists, and other dog walkers, and Prince Eric was polite with everyone.

He walked well on leash and did not pull most of the time. Sometimes he could become a little jumpy when he wanted attention. He was SUPER affectionate - whenever I knelt down and called his name, he would come to me immediately and put himself into my arms entirely. When I picked up after him or tied my shoelaces, he would wait patiently by my side. He LOVED to be petted and gave a lot of kisses.

He really is a wonderful dog deserves a loving family!”

Prince Eric’s walker wants potential adopters to know a few things about him:

He can be a little shy and cautious with new people, please give him a little time and let him come to you first. Once he trusts you, you will get the cuddliest and most affectionate pup - he will want to cuddle with you all the time and of course he will give you a lot of kisses!

🐾He is dog-friendly and participates dog play groups regularly

🐾He knows “sit”, “down”, and is very smart

🐾He is SUPER treat motivated, and loves toys

🐾He is very good at riding in car - very quiet and lay down comfortable in the back seat

🐾He can be jumpy sometimes, but most of the time, he just wants to give kisses.
