Cleo is a remarkably spirited beauty with a larger than life personality and a voice to match. At 10 years old, she has the wonderful confidence that comes with age, and yet she still plays like a teenager. She explores and leaps with delight when wand toys suddenly appear.
Upon arriving at her foster home, Cleo settled in quickly. When she nuzzled her nose next to her foster mom’s face, the smell of her breath was a clue that something was very amiss in Cleo's mouth. Her records indicated that a suggested dental cleaning had been deferred for several years, which meant she might have serious issues with her teeth and may have been in pain.
On the day of her dental cleaning appointment, X-ray images confirmed that resorptive lesions were affecting multiple teeth. In addition, a few incisors needed to be removed due to the severe periodontal disease affecting neighboring teeth. Ultimately, 12 of Cleo's 30 teeth were extracted, and the remaining teeth were thoroughly scaled and polished.
During the procedure, the veterinary team also discovered a prominent mass near one tooth. Biopsy results showed the mass to be fibrocollagenous connective tissue with a very small focus of mineralized bone—not cancer.
Now fully recovered, Cleo continues to show her personality more every day. She is a very relational cat who will happily settle into your lap to watch your favorite shows, join you in bed and sleep through the night, and follow you around the house just to see what you are up to. When she meows, she appreciates an answer in return. Among her favorite pastimes are watching the world go by from an open window, making biscuits when she steps into her plush donut bed, hunting little mouse toys, and of course enjoying mealtime!
Cleo’s vet bills totaled almost $4,000 and your donations made the care she desperately needed possible. There are still 4 more days to contribute to our 11th Anniversary Fundraiser and help more kitties like Cleo ❤
