Q&A - Gymkhana Club

What is gymkhana club?
It is training for CGA shows. Jillian and Liana will focus on 2-3 events at each club. We will be teaching the participants how to measure out the events and then practice riding through the events to learn the patterns.

What does CGA stand for?
California Gymkhana Association

What is gymkhana?
Gymkhana is an equestrian event consisting of speed pattern racing and timed games for riders on horses. There are 13 different speed and skill events in CGA

What age can do gymkhana club? All ages and skill levels are welcome! There are divisions based off of you riding ability and speed so you compete against people that are at your level.

Do you have to have done gymkhana before?
No! Gymkhana Club is intended to teach new and experienced gymkhana riders and horses how to do gymkhana with CGA

Do you need to have your own horse?
No! If you do not have your own horse, we have horses available!

Do you have to go fast?
No! All levels or horses and riders are welcome and walking is perfectly acceptable!

Do you have to show to be able to come to gymkhana club?
No! Our goal is to prepare riders for shows and work on techniques to help you and your horse in the events but there is no obligation to show if you come to practice!

If you come to gymkhana club, does that make you a member of CGA?
No! Gymkhana Club does not make you a member of CGA. You can sign up to be a member of CGA at a show.
