I have felt deeply connected to animals ever since I was a child and decided I wanted to work with animals professionally as an adult. Upon moving to Hawaii in 2010, I worked at a veterinary clinic where I received amazing on-the-job training. It was working there that solidified my passion for animals and inspired me to pursue my Bachelor’s of Science in Animal Science from the University of Hawa
ii. While pursuing my degree, I worked for a high-volume, open admission shelter where I personally admitted over 10,000 animals! After finishing college, my husband and I moved to California where I am currently working for an open-admission shelter as an Animal Health Specialist. I love my current job, as I am tasked with improving the lives of animals while they are in the shelter and working with animals behaviorally to help them get adopted! Because I can’t get enough animal time I also spend one of my weekend days working with a doggy hiking camp! Although the focus of my blog is cat behavior, I work with, and have been trained to help, a variety of animals. This blog is a place for me to share my tips to help improve the lives of your feline friends. I draw on my formal education, work experience, and years of reading and following cat behavior experts to provide unique suggestions that I have utilized to improve the lives of hundreds of cats, including my own kitty, Sophie.
I take a science-based approach to understanding and modifying animal behavior. Whenever possible, I cite scientific research relevant to the advice I am giving. My goal is that I can be your go-to source for education about your cat’s behavior and for tips on modifying any unwanted behaviors. Thanks for visiting and feel free to contact me with questions!
