Look at these critters! What are they, you might ask? These are ear mites. Ear mites are microscopic parasites that are found in ear canals. Feeling itchy yet?? 😬🤭While they are most commonly seen in cats, dogs can also get them. If you’re ever noticing any symptoms such as head shaking, scratching, inflammation, coffee ground looking debris, give our office a call to schedule an appointment for your pet 760-744-7410.

Dental disease in dogs and cats is more common than you’d think! If gone untreated, it can lead to more serious issues such as gingival recession, abscessed teeth, loose teeth, and bone loss. Dental plaque and tartar can also get into the blood stream and cause internal issues with the kidney, liver, and heart.
Exams should be done on your pet on an annual basis, at which time your veterinarian will let you know if dental care is needed.
We are currently offering 40% off all dental packages through 12/31/24. Dental package includes exam, blood work, dental radiographs, dental probing, scaling & polishing. Extractions and medications are additional.

Summer is here. Please be mindful and cautious when taking your pups out for walks. If you can’t touch the ground and keep your hand there for at least 5 seconds, it’s too hot for your fur baby to walk on. We recommend avoiding walks during the day when the heat tends to peak…if possible go for early morning or late evening walks. Make sure your pups stay hydrated.
Ever heard of using honey in a bandage?
Here’s a little video of Dr. Vickie talking through the process of a honey bandage. Honey is a natural antibacterial, which can help draw out moisture from damaged tissue and bacterial cells. If your pet has a wound that just doesn’t seem to be healing, call us to schedule a consultation and discuss the possibility of a honey bandage.
FUN FACT: the honey we are using is one the Dr. Vickie harvests from her own apiary.
