While we are in the San Diego area and it is not super cold outside to a point where you can’t take your dog outside, some days there are some days were you want to stay in. If you have a high-energy dog it can be harder to get some of their energy out while inside somethings you can do instead of going for your normal walk are:
• Playing tug of war
• Playing with puzzle toys (most common is the Kong)
• Playing hide and seek, also a great way to work on recall (Toss a treat then run and hide from your dog,
call their name and let them come find you and give them another treat, repeat)
• Use items around your house and make an agility course to try with your dog
• A treasure hunt if your dog is food motivated (hide a smelly treat somewhere in the house let your dog try
to find it)

Pet Travel Safety Day is a great day to remind everyone how to keep our pets safe while we travel with for short and long distances.
• Always keep your pet in the back seat or in a kennel (a kennel is the safest option)
• Don’t let your pet stick their head out the window
• Bring some of their favorites to make them more comfortable such as their favorite blanket, toy, treats, some water and a water bowl
• Always make sure to have your pets rabies vaccine information with you as some states will require that as you travel across boarders
• Limit the amount of food your pet has before traveling to avoiding any nausea
