Ok horse community it’s that time to help out those in need!
In 2020 during CZU we assisted in evacuating and supplying horses and families that were displaced from the fires. This year we do the same for those down south.
Our amazing friends at and have agreed to open tabs for donations. Just call and ask to put whatever amount you feel comfortable in the “Serena LA Fund”.
On Thursday morning, we will pickup from the stores whatever is needed with the credit from donations.
Another need at this time is distribution. Once we unload our donations we will be taking a day or two to distribute other donations to families who need it. If you’d like to donate to our fuel, zelle me at (408)204-2891
Sometime next month, as the fires die down, we will be working closely with .of.angels to help build a hay bank to support these families long term. Any funds that we don’t use from our first haul will go towards our haul next month. Donations are open immediately, and won’t close until our second haul in February (we may do a third if needed)
It took us a while to lock in with someone that had information on what was needed, but now that we have made some more connections we will more than likely be running donations multiple times in the next few weeks
Let’s see what miracle we can pull off!

As I sit in the airport waiting to board my flight for this years international conference, I figured I should post my travels for the last year that was CHA related
Last year I spoke at the (very cold) conference at Colorado State University, rode a little bit and had the opportunity to drive a little bit as well!
I also got to visit my very first student ever who’s out in Utah
Since we had students competing at nationals in Tryon, I had a chance to visit with our friends over at and chat with them about their program that we now use at both of our locations
Lastly, on my way back from Tryon I bumped into CHA President working her day job in Fort Worth
On top of all this, I was sent to to certify their amazing group of instructors again!
Here’s to another year of travel, looking forward to CHA this year!

Customer Spotlight - Under The Son Horsemanship!

"EC Pro has immensely helped us support our business and community since we signed on with them. I've tried everything from spreadsheets, Google Forms, calendars and subscription programs meant for gyms, yet nothing seemed to fit the bill of what we were looking for. Under the Son has had multiple locations for a number of years, and EC Pro has helped us manage the schedule, staff, bookings and horses at all locations. Having a program that allows clients to book based off staff and horse availability is a huge time saver, plus the program keeps track of horse usage and other appointments. On top of a wonderful program, the support team has equine experience, and understands our industry well which is a huge bonus. As a CHA Certifier and IEA coach, EC Pro allows us to keep track of students on a level-based system, which keeps everything organized and efficient. After working with them for a year, I'm not sure I'll be able to use anything else!"

Yet another bittersweet senior send off
Last week I dropped Conner off at the UC Davis Equestrian Center for his first year of college with ._.delprado who was our amazing working student for a number of years

From crossrails to being our open over fences rider for zone finals, to the 1.05m jumpers, from not doing any dressage to showing 2nd level at a schooling show, Alicia has been with us from the very beginning of her show career. This past April we were able to accomplish her dream by finding her the perfect match in her first horse of her own, Conner.
Obviously, the barn crew and I will miss having her around the barn since everything was completed and in order without a single thing out of place. Mostly, we will miss her smile, laughter and joking about a one stride being a bounce, or that our 12h lesson pony is ready to pack a kid around the 1.60m jumpers
Unfortunately for us we can’t offer her a DVM, but being accepted to her number one school to chase that dream brings us joy to see her grow
We are all proud of you and are looking forward to when you can come back and visit!
Happy trails,
Serena and the barn crew at Under the Son

A little bit of a throwback while we try to survive the heat 🥵
We had to divide and conquer back in April! While I was with 3 of our riders out in Tryon, I entrusted .equestrian with two of our riders for their first stab at a Classic A show at Woodside!_.delprado with .sporthorses Kiva did a fantastic job in the 1.0m for the first time bringing home a reserve championship!
had many fantastic rounds in the 2’6” low children’s hunters and the low children’s eq placing reserve champion in one division as well as in CPHA qualifying her for the medal final! Congratulations to both riders for a job well done!

Better late than never! (We HAD to get the professional photos in first!)
Under the Son had 3 students travel to Tryon for IEA Nationals and they all rode beautifully!
Shubi placed 4th winning a dressage court whiteboard for her WTC beginner novice class
Sadie also placed 4th winning a dressage court whiteboard for intermediate DSE
Catarina received a National qualifier medal for novice test

Thank you ladies for taking the opportunity to represent your team across the country! I’m sure I can speak for the entire team when I say that we are so proud of all of you and your performances this year. Onto the next season, hopefully we make it to St Louis next year!

As we travel to the other side of the country for IEA Nationals, I wanted to take a moment to commend and congratulate the members of our IEA team who’s season is complete for the year:
🌟Alicia Del Prado García-Open 2’6” over fences rider for our Zone Qualifying Hunt Seat Team, Senior in High School attending UC Davis this fall
🌟Adhira Knight-Open 2’6” flat rider for our Zone Qualifying Hunt Seat Team, 3rd place DSE Open rider at Dressage Regionals, Open Rider for our Regional Qualifying Dressage team that placed 4th Overall
🌟Julianne Campagna-Intermediate DSE Rider for our Regional Qualifying Team that placed 4th Overall at Regionals, Individual Regional Qualifier for Test and DSE
🌟Hailey Styerwalt-Novice flat and over fences rider for our Zone Qualifying Hunt Seat Team, 4th in Novice DSE at Dressage Regionals
🌟Sophie Andersen-Beginner WTC DSE Regional Qualifier as well as riding in WTC Hunt Seat for a great year
🌟Bella Peraino-Walk Trot Regional Hunt Seat Qualifier and Reserve Zone 10 Walk Trot Hunt Seat Champion
🌟Victoria Warren-Walk Trot Hunt Seat Zone 10 Qualifier placing 2nd

Up next: 3 riders are set to dance in the sandbox at Tryon International Equestrian Center on Sunday, which will complete our season for the year.

Looking back at when we started IEA in 2017, I would’ve never expected to have our team qualify for zones in two disciplines let alone have multiple riders going to nationals 2 years in a row. With this years team roster consisting of students that we’ve brought from first ride to open division, I couldn’t be any more proud of this little team of home grown riders as I am right now. To all of our riders, I love you, and I’m proud of you and how far you’ve come!

With love,
Coach

Great brain, in your pocket personality with a fantastic work ethic! Would excel with a confident young rider/amateur in a simple program. Had a slow start for a solid foundation, then sat on the back burner for a bit in his earlier years. Brave to fences, fantastic mover and ready for a job showing with the right person. Schooling some first level dressage and doing small jump courses, he's been in dressage clinics and is consistently ridden by our IEA hunt seat and dressage riders. Asking five figures starting with a 35 to keep, but open to reasonable offers since owner needs him gone ASAP
