Today was my first pig rescue since Quincy passed away, I'll be honest... My heart hasn't been in it since Quincy's passing. I felt compelled to help, the thought of him being out in the cold in a high coyote area made my heart sink. Off to the cotton fields we went...

I took Arnie with since he can be off leash and will stay close, he's not a very confrontational pig either. My hope was Arnie would lure him in so I could catch him since this loose pig was roaming around several acres of unfenced cotton fields. There's no way you can out run a loose pig in a large area who is trying to not get caught! The stray pig took off so I got Arnie out and we walked and walked until we got eyes on him again and close enough that he noticed Arnie. Arnie walked him about a half mile back to the truck and crate, he did a great job! The loose pig stuck around which I was told he previously wouldn't hang out at all and wouldn't get close to the people who have been trying to help him to safety, thanks to Arnie! This pig was so curious and obsessed with Arnie that it really worked out well in my favor, I think he was so excited to see another pig!

This little man who I have yet to name is hanging out in my bathroom until we can locate an emergency foster, if you're interested in fostering please let me know! AZ Piggy Network is taking him in and will get him medical care and neutered before he's able to adopted. He's nervous and terrified of people right now which is totally to be expected. The time to decompress will be everything for him. He has a happy and safe future ahead of him all because a concerned animal lover sought out help to get this babe to safety. A friendly reminder, if you see something, say something! 🐽💛

If you're looking for an amazing livestock vet, these gals are it! Dr. Ritz and Dr. Cubbage have been the absolute best to my personal pigs and the many foster pigs that come through my home.

Hey Everyone!! Just wanted to make sure everyone was aware of new mobile veterinary practice specifically for livestock animals in AZ… And let me assure you, although the practice is new, the vets have plenty of experience working with your various livestock animals… We’ve been using these ladies for several years to care for our hundreds of foster pigs around the state and many of our fosters have used them for all their other animals as well!!

They did their soft launch this week and will start seeing clients now, but will be fully operational and surgery ready within the next couple weeks!!

Show them some love, schedule your appts and for those of you wondering where Dr Ritz and Dr Cubbage landed, well you’ve found them!!

Did you know black pigs get completely overlooked compared to the pink or spotted pigs?

When it comes to pigs, spotted varieties often steal the show with their distinctive patterns and playful appearance. However, black pigs deserve equal appreciation for their beautiful appearance, unique traits and qualities!

While spotted or pink pigs may stand out, black pigs possess a classic beauty that is often underrated. Their sleek black coats can be incredibly striking, and they have a certain elegance that you can't deny. Each black pig has its own personality and charm, making them just as special as their spotted and pink counterparts.

Unfortunately, we have SO MANY beautiful black pigs who are currently in foster and need homes but they never get their adoption day because people choose to go with the "flashy" pigs. Granted, all pigs need loving homes but this is specially true for our black babies who are amazing, snuggly, social, and unique in their own special ways. This is often true with black dogs and cats too unfortunately.

Food for thought when thinking about fostering or adopting your next pig, dog, or cat!

Happy Labor Day!

Here's a little throw back to Gypsy when she was just a youngster, best guess 9 months old. She and her momma, Nanners were my very first fosters... And my first foster fails (there were many more after them 🤦🏼‍♀️)! She came to me extremely emaciated and sick, she was in a very fragile state for quite awhile. Now she's at a great weight, healthy, and queen of the herd! She still treats her mom with love and respect, like the good girl that she is! 💛✨
