Training session with Lilo and Tank. Lilo is practicing her down-stay while she’s on place as I’m working with Tank on his leash work. When dogs reach a certain point in training, they are able to be trained together in this fashion.

There’s 3 basic factors when it comes to training:

1. Is your dog controllable on-leash?

2. Is your dog controllable off-leash?

3. Does your dog stay where you put them?

Of course, there’s a lot of other factors but these 3 are critical for a dog’s foundation.

A clip from my session with Gunner the Rottie. Gunner is extremely reactive on the walk towards dogs, people walking, bikes and joggers. We worked on:

1. Heel position

2. Timing on corrections

3. Creating space to minimize pressureGreat first session but we have to put in our reps and put in the time to see true mental change. 🌵

Junior had his first 1 on 1 session. We focused on walking on a loose leash and his focus while working with us. We want to make sure to reward effort with verbal praise and/or treat.

Say hi to Barry! He’s a 4 month old miniature Golden doodle who started our 1 on 1 program. You definitely want to start training when your dog’s young. While training dogs when they are older is still great. There’s a few benefits of training dogs when they’re puppies.

1. Building a stronger relationship with your dog when they are a blank slate and easier to train.

2. Behavior prevention. Creating structure and giving direction so behavior issues never develop.

3. Starting training early will lead to more freedom for your dog sooner than without training.

Hey guys. This is part of a series of stores that we recommend to get items for your dog.

is located in San tan valley. They are based out of California. They have a great variety of items that you can’t get from big box stores. I would definitely check them out! 🏜️

A clip from Timber’s session. Timber started our 1 on 1 program to work on his reactivity. We are meeting at different locations to work on exposure. The dogs barking through the fence was a good indicator of his progress.

Key takeaways

1. Creating distance so Timber doesn’t feel so much pressure to set him up to fail.

2. Correcting mindset before it escalates to unmanageable conditions.

3. Rewarding at proper times to ensure we are giving him proper direction to succeed.

A clip from Oliver’s session. We were working outside of the dog park on exposure and decided to work on socialization with him. At first he was nervous but he got more comfortable as he interacted with more dogs and people. I will be posting my visits to interesting pet stores throughout the valley. First one will be Kahoots in San tan Valley. 🌵

A clip of my follow up with Bo Peep. Prior to training, she was picking fights with the oldest dog in her pack. Bo is only 1 and the oldest dog is 10. There’s definitely a pack hierarchy that she’s trying to establish by randomly fighting with her older sibling. By using her training and creating structure within the home, the owners can control the dynamics in the home to make sure all the dogs are safe.

Tank the Lab/ Great Pyrenees mix is here to work on his obedience, manners and overall mindset. With mixes of bigger dogs, they can grow at a fast rate. He reached 50 lbs by the time he was 6 months and still growing. Training is definitely recommended at a younger age for bigger dogs. Setting structure and creating a routine is easier on a blank slate than an older dog who already decided that they are the boss of the house.

Working with Oliver and Sage at Cosmo dog park. Oliver has been reactive on walks and hasn’t gotten a lot of exposure to other dogs. The dog park can be a good experience if you know what to look for.

Here’s my Top 3 recommendations when it comes to dog parks.

1. Go to the dog park when there’s 5 or less other dogs with their owners. It makes sure that are not so many variables to worry about.

2. Before going inside the dog park. Watch from outside and observe the play of the dogs currently in the dog park. Are they playing back and forth? Is there any dogs being dominant? If play looks good, you have the green light to enter.

3. If you see negative behavior or negative body language between your dog and another dog. It’s okay to just take your dog to another part of the dog park or just leave all together. Don’t put your dog in a position where they can have a negative experience there.

Diesel and Scarlett are back home working on their new skills! Frenchies are lovable and cute dogs but people forget that they are bull dogs. Sometimes they can be stubborn and hard headed. Even the cutest of dogs need structure and guidance. 🏜️

Say hi to Lilo! She’s a Belgian Malinois puppy we have been working with. Mals are smart but can be challenging for a new dog owner. They have a lot of energy and can become destructive if they don’t get enough exercise or mental stimulation.
