Say hello to Alex!
Alex has been with us since January 2025, working as a veterinary technician and receptionist. She recently graduated with her bachelor’s in Veterinary Science and hopes to become a board-certified veterinary surgeon one day.
Alex has three Labrador Retrievers—Zeus, Pumpkin, and Ruby. Her favorite animals, other than her own are lambs.
Outside of work, Alex enjoys (and is extremely gifted at) singing and painting.
She also enjoys going to the gym, traveling, and spending time with friends checking out new coffee shops or finding fun new experiences to try together.
We love having Alex as a part of our team and can't wait what the future holds for her!

Our Story

Our goal is to help you and your pets enjoy the human-pet bond to the fullest.

In 2005, after realizing there was a critical need for veterinary care in the rapidly growing Johnson Ranch area of Queen Creek, Dr. Marc Schmidt established Johnson Ranch Animal Clinic, making him the first veterinarian in San Tan Valley. In response to the increasing number of communities, residents, and pets, Dr. Kelly Bowers joined him in the practice a couple of years later. Together, with over 40 years of experience between them, they treat the medical and surgical needs of the area’s dogs and cats as well as providing preventative care for them and client education to their owners.

Johnson Ranch Animal Clinic’s focus is on keeping pets healthy through preventative care and treating them with the latest technology when they do get sick. But healthy pets are not just about disease and accident prevention or curing an illness or injury. It’s also about socialization, nutrition, behavior, and training.

At Johnson Ranch Animal Clinic, Dr. Schmidt, Dr. Bowers, and the staff will always take the time to listen to your concerns, answer your questions and explain all the treatment options available. And you are welcome to remain with your pet during any procedure.
