Marengo the Dragon Horse

Marengo the Dragon Horse Marengo (affectionately Mango or the Dragon) - Andalusian Arabian horse.

“Oh, riding horses isn’t a real sport?” Cute. Try balancing on half a ton of muscle while keeping your core locked, your legs steady, and your heart rate in the cardio zone… all while steering an animal with a mind of its own. Spoiler: the horse doesn’t come with power steering or brakes.

And that’s just the riding part. Add in mucking stalls, hauling water buckets, flinging hay bales, and hefting saddles that weigh as much as your gym bag times five. Congratulations—you’ve just described full-body strength training, endurance training, and a barnyard bootcamp rolled into one. So yes, equestrian is a sport. The horse just happens to be the world’s sassiest (and most majestic) teammate. 🐎💪🔥

Most horses: patiently wait for the hay to be delivered.
Marengo the Dragon Horse: “Patience is for mortals. I am fueled by destiny (and horse cookies).”

With the determination of a mythic beast on a life mission, he yanks a whole bale off a moving side by side, almost trips over his prize, then prances away like he just saved the kingdom. Head flinging, eyes sparkling, making absolutely sure every horse and human witnessed his legendary feat. If this isn’t life with a dragon horse on the farm, honestly… what is? 🐴🔥🍪

Meet the elusive North American Dragon Horse—a rare creature powered entirely by horse cookies and pure chaos. His special ability? Doing exactly what he wants, exactly when he wants… then flashing his “cute face” to erase all evidence of wrongdoing. Science can’t explain it, but apparently rules don’t apply when you’re 1000 pounds of majestic mischief wrapped in dragon-level energy.

And while being a dragon rider sounds like a life of epic glory, the truth is it’s mostly a crash course in pretending you’ve got everything under control while your steed is auditioning for a rodeo you never signed up for. Glamour? Nope. It’s 90% cookie bribery, 10% holding on for dear life, and 100% praying nobody saw that last “graceful” dismount. 🐴🔥🍪

🐴✨ If you’ve spent any time in dressage, you’ve probably heard of the training pyramid for the horse—those six classic steps: rhythm, suppleness, contact, impulsion, straightness, and collection.

But here’s something many riders don’t realize: there’s also a training scale for the rider. Just like our horses, we progress step by step—starting with balance and position, then developing core stability, independence of the aids, feel, coordination, and finally that quiet artistry where advanced work looks effortless.

👉 When both scales are understood together, rider and horse can truly grow as a team.

That’s why I created this Dressage Training Scales Bundle: a set of clear, printable diagrams and worksheets for both the horse and the rider. You’ll find:
✔ Multiple versions of the horse’s pyramid (traditional and simplified)
✔ A full rider training scale designed for clarity and teaching
✔ Worksheets you can use for lesson plans, goal setting, or even pin up in your arena

This bundle is perfect for riders who want to see the “big picture” of dressage progress, and for instructors who need reliable, ready-to-go teaching visuals.

🎉 And here’s the exciting part: for the next 48 hours only, you can download the entire bundle for just a dollar!

Don’t miss this chance to add a practical, professional tool to your dressage journey.

👉 Grab your copy today and start riding (and teaching) with more clarity and confidence!

An update on how it's going with the five dolla Amazon fly masks.

We are over 2 months in and the first one has held up surprisingly well considering he enlists the help of a friend to remove it from his face at least twice a week.

However, it is currently lost in the field.

Good thing they came in a 6-pack.

Because we got to try on this fashion statement piece today.

I'm sure all his gelding friends are jealous.

UPDATE: The original fly mask has been returned to the pasture fence post by an anonymous good citizen, and amazingly, it is still in one piece.

I'm impressed.
