🚨 New Transceiver Checker Alert! 🚨

Attention everyone: a transceiver checker is now installed at the top of the T-bar! Before heading into the backcountry, take a moment to ensure your avalanche transceiver is transmitting properly.

A huge shoutout to the Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center (IPAC) for helping keep our mountain community safe. Backcountry safety is a team effort—let’s all do our part! Check out the latest forecast and idahopanhandleavalanche.org

Hey everyone! Quick reminder that we have a very strict no uphill policy in place. Do not ski on the mountain today as we are doing active explosives control work. We are still dealing with the backcountry snow pack all over the mountain. Don’t lose your pass before the season starts

🚨 Avalanche Control Work in Progress 🚨

Hey snow lovers! We’re kicking off the season with a backcountry snowpack, which means your ski patrol team will be hard at work conducting avalanche control work with explosives over the next couple of days leading up to Opening Day.

This critical work is all about your safety and ensuring the mountain is ready for an amazing season. Our official policy is that we do not allow uphill traffic on the mountain. Do not ski (up or downhill), hike, or enter areas where we are working— please give us the space we need to work and keep everyone safe.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We can’t wait to welcome you back to a safe and snowy mountain! Stay tuned for updates, and keep those snow dances going. .avydogs

Hey folks. Today is the day. We got more terrain open and we are stoked! But with that, we are still skiing early season conditions. That means that just under the surface, little trees, rocks, creeks and other hazards do exist. Ski with your friends in sight, tread lightly, download AirFlare and have some fun!

Gettin’ it done!! Unfortunately, the pond skim has been cancelled this season due to a hole in the liner. That just gave us a good excuse to put our expert shoveling and Pulaski skills to the test, chiseling out the liner remnants. We are reminded on a daily basis what it means to be a team and work together when it comes to times like this… Huge shout out to Dan for building what could have been 😎

We're only 4 days away!!

The question has come up…what is Community Day really? Sure, it’s a great way to get on the mountain and ski all day for $20. Gotta love that! But beyond that? The core focus of the day is to help raise money for Community Cancer Services, based right here in Sandpoint. 100% of all lift ticket proceeds will go directly to CCS. They wrote it best themselves in a recent Facebook post and we wanted to share their words:

Heather’s House was founded in 2002 by Heather Gibson and Cynthia Dalsing. While receiving treatment, Heather began recognizing the overwhelming lack of support and resources that the Bonner and Boundary community members had when diagnosed with cancer.

Heather's House began by providing meals to those in treatment at Bonner General, and gas vouchers to get to appointments. Eventually, Heather’s House became “Community Cancer Services Home of Heather's House” and over the years CCS has grown, providing gas vouchers, grocery gift cards, lodging, exercise and emotional support to our community members with a cancer diagnosis.

While our CCS members change over the years, our focus to the original mission stays steadfast. As Cynthia said, “Heather was a philanthropic leader; she would see a need, and get it done. If I just stood close to Heather for long enough, I would be involved in her legacy of service projects.” We at CCS are proud to continue the work that Heather and Cynthia began and being a part of Heather's legacy.

Only 7 days away!!! We are here to bring you the countdown to community day, complete with photos of us in real life. I mean, who doesn’t love a goofy patroller or avalanche dog? Guys and gals. Old and young. We are a team. Over the years, we have been deeply impacted by friends and family who have suffered through various forms of cancer. For some, they have overcome. Others, we think of daily and mourn. Frankly, cancer doesn’t discriminate and we are here to do what we can to help raise funds to support those who have to endure the unthinkable. Next Friday, the 24th, Schweitzer is hosting a $20 ski day – 100% of the lift ticket proceeds will go directly to our local Community Cancer Services. Explosives are out and doing their job. With 2 inches an hour, we are doing everything we can to keep up with the snow. As always, please obey ALL ropes and closures so we can all stay safe. Just a heads up, no runs are groomed past the top of the Colburn Triple and Cedar Park Express is not running so plan accordingly. Have fun and stay safe out there!

8.5" of new snow since 5am + 3" before that = a pretty fun day out there!

OPS UPDATE - We are planning to open the Lakeview Triple FRIDAY.
After that, we'll continue work on the terrain to support the opening of the Great Escape. Thanks to all of our crews from Lifts, Patrol, Grooming and more working to get the mountain prepared 🙏

The one down side of all this light/fluffy pow is that it does not cover rocks, fill in roads, etc. So our grooming team is headed out tomorrow to fill in what they can to prepare more terrain for the near future. Remember, it's still barely December - we have a long season ahead and are excited as you are to get the mountain open!

As always, the snow report page of the website is your best bet for the most current conditions, open terrain and other ops updates https://www.schweitzer.com/discover/conditions-report/
