This milestone is so special, not just because of the number, but because of the journey we’ve shared with each of you—both the loyal friends who’ve been with us from the start and the new faces who’ve joined our growing family this past year.

Your belief in our mission to build better relationships between dogs and their humans fuels everything we do. Your dog stays with us for 4-6 weeks, where we focus on advanced off-leash obedience and building new, healthy habits. We keep it small—only 2-3 dogs at a time—so your pup gets the attention they deserve.⁠

Every year, we take a much-needed pause for our annual shutdown. This break is crucial for us to recharge, reconnect, and prevent burnout and compassion fatigue—real challenges in this industry we love so much. As a small, family-owned and operated business (with a thriving toddler keeping us on our toes), we believe it’s important to practice what we preach: balance, rest, and resilience.⁠

🎉 Happy 2nd Birthday to Griffin & Birdie! 🎉

Please join us in celebrating two of our youngest members of the pack – our son Griffin and everyone’s best friend, Birdie! 🐾

These two, born just a day apart, have equally changed our lives for the better and are truly a dynamic duo.

✨ Griffin is our right-hand little man. At just two years old, he’s already an essential part of Lake Erie Dogs, helping alongside us in daily operations. He takes feeding routines and cleaning protocols very seriously, specializing in bowl retrieval and treat delivery with unmatched focus and enthusiasm.

✨ Birdie is the life of the party. She’s everyone’s best friend, bringing belly laughs, gasps, and groans every single day.As dog trainers, Birdie reminds us of this truth: “You don’t get the dog you want, you get the dog you need.” She humbles us, challenges us, and makes us better trainers and people – literally every day.

Our days would be so bland without these two. They make life richer, funnier, and endlessly rewarding.

Pumpkin is many folks answer for Diarrhea but I would skip the can and grab some blackberry leaf tea or tincture. This is my must-have for all things diarrhea. Works quickly. This is interesting!! I supplement choline specifically because it’s so hard to get it in Whole Foods besides eggs. This is why feeding 80/10/10 doesn’t always work the micronutrients matter!! If you’re feeding a homemade recipe be sure you are meeting all the macro and micros to avoid things like this.

Relationship matters. No tools, no treats—just clear expectations. All of these dogs have completed or are currently in our Board and Train program. They see Tom, our head trainer, as a leader, and they know he will hold them accountable when he gives a command. It maybe be simply bringing Ollie in from outside but it’s very much ✨training✨ Every interaction is a training moment. The simple stuff is what really matters it’s what moves the needle. The small interactions set the tone. We do this multiple times a day and we use obedience to navigate dogs around the facility so that they know what’s expected of them. Letting dogs in and out can be a very effective training moment if done mindfully. Every daycare, boarding, and in training dog gets these one on one moments with us multiple times a day. We’re working on impulse control, listening skills, following commands, responding to leash pressure and much more! Ollie was an excellent model to show you this! 🤍

Okay Sandusky you’re cute - lived this shot Tom got of him and Lucy working on a beautiful Saturday morning downtown! What we think is important to remember is that what you see online is a highlight reel. When we are able to film or take pictures is when the dog is to a point we can either disconnect from them or it looks like the final picture. A whole lot of work, hours and days of repetition went into getting Lucy to this point where we can walk her in public under threshold, we’re so happy for her!! Come for a walk around the property with us! We take these evening strolls every night with the dogs in training. It’s a great way to incorporate real life experiences where we disengage to interact with the environment while maintaining the expectation like holding a down-stay or walking nicely next to us. Tom and Matt have been putting in amazing work with Bowie and it really shows!! Everyday we enjoy this little piece of paradise that we get to share with the dogs and owners we work with!

Large field socialization involves allowing dogs to interact in expansive, open spaces under controlled supervision, which in our experience has been instrumental in reducing reactivity and aggression. This type of environment enables dogs to engage in natural behaviors, such as exploring and playing, without the constraints and stressors of smaller, more confined areas. The ample space allows dogs to approach and retreat from stimuli at their own pace, fostering positive interactions and reducing the likelihood of fear-based reactions. Additionally, the varied experiences and gradual desensitization to different stimuli in such a setting can significantly improve a dog’s social skills and confidence, leading to more stable and balanced behavior overall!! We believe in creating a balanced relationship between owner and dog. The methods that we use revolve around balance and consistency. The success is shown through the work that we (owners and trainer together) put in.

We specialize in, off-leash remote collar training, which gives your dog a freedom most will never experience, but it all begins with treats and leash. We then use these tools as building blocks and aids to our success.

We are a positive first company which means we solidify all commands with positivity first. Giving owners a communication system that both you and your dog understand with a tool to back it all up.

We are always committed to going, the owner and the dogs, pace. That is why we offer unlimited support and do not put time restraints on individual lessons, or the amount of follow up and assistance, nor do we increase the cost of a board and train for extra needed time.

By joining the LED pack you and your dog become apart of our family for life. We offer unlimited follow up lessons and support, we hope to offer many client only events in the future and continued learning on top of our already established client only structured boarding and day training services in our home.

On-Leash Skills : Basic obedience commands (Sit, Down, Here, Bed, etc.) and how they can help in everyday life. How to properly walk nicely on the leash and use the leash as a communication tool when your dog may become distracted and not listening to what you are saying.

Off-Leash Skills : Remote collar training gives us the ability to communicate with our dogs on another level. With remote collar training we can UNLEASH your dog's potential, making off-leash freedom a reality, a privilege, and a new way of life to your dog. Remote collar training gives us the ability to create a very reliable recall (here) command and in some cases can save a dogs life.

Better Manners : We teach our dogs how to coexist in your home in a more “mannerly” way. How to respectfully be out in public around distractions like other people and dogs. We believe a healthy mindset ensures a more mannerly dog.

Overall Behavior : By laying down a solid foundation of fundamental skills creating a way to effectively communicate with your dog, we can address problematic behaviors setting up the owner and dog for long term success in and outside the household.

At Lake Erie Dogs we consider ourselves to be positive first dog trainers.
