The news has had a lot of information recently about the respiratory illness going around affecting dogs. Our setting is a very small, contained setting where we only have a select few dogs coming. We keep the numbers small and our visitors typically are only coming here and not going back-and-forth between here and other places full of dogs. Our personal dogs are not exposed to any other dogs besides the ones that come to the house. And we would like to encourage those who do plan on coming for daycare or boarding to not go to other daycare’s, dog parks, or areas where your dog will be surrounded by other dogs in order to protect our own animals, as well as the others who come to visit. And as always the policy is if your dog shows any signs of illness, such as coughing, breathing difficulties, stomach, upset, etc to please keep them home.

Doggies don’t understand time change! Up at 4 AM wanting breakfast and ready for dinner at 4 PM. Such an adjustment.

Link’s bestie Mabel got to spend the weekend with us as well as big Finn. So lucky to have such sweet dogs coming to play.

I always hesitate to recommend using apps for finding a dog sitter. Their vetting process is very minimal. So anybody can really be on there with no confirmation that they are legitimate. I always suggest talking to friends and family for recommendations. Go on your town pages and ask who people have used and would recommend. Meet with a people before hand.

It’s important to know your dogs personality, and how they are with other animals before deciding what’s right for you. Many times people ask me if we mix our small dogs and large dogs together. Well, of course we do because we watch dogs in our home and keep the numbers super small because it is our home. We don’t keep dogs separated. And size is never an issue. Only temperament is. The only time we will have any issues is if a dog is aggressive no matter what size. So as long as your dog has a good temperament and is not aggressive towards other dogs, they will be fine here. Anxiety is one of our specialties and within a few hours all dogs settle in and become part of the pack and have a blast. See our previous post with the video of Link being climbed all over by a particularly active and happy little dog. Super kind and patient with everyone. He knows when to be calm and gentle and he knows when to be playful. He’s a good boy. 🐾

We are already booking up for Thanksgiving and Christmas so if you know you will be away for these days, please let us know ASAP. We take preference over dogs that we already have had in the past. But if you’re a new customer we do have a few openings left so I would reach out now to set up a meeting. We do have plenty of other fall dates available but have already started booking some spring school vacation dates.

Lots of cute fluffy doodles here with us for extended stays. Leo and Benny will be hanging out for a few weeks. Princess Belle is back and welcoming our new friends Chili and Money Penny. All sweet pups! And now the best of friends!

Finished up school vacation week and had a bit of quieter week. We were happy to welcome big Duncan for his first day of day care this week. And it’s always fun when Mabel and Grady come for sleepovers.

Now that the big April rush is over we are able to meet with new customers for boarding dates. We are limited on day care spots but have some summer boarding room. We are taking some time off in July so reach out now to make sure you have your pet sitting needs taken care of.

Update on our availability. We are fully booked for the month of April. We cannot take any new customers for meetings or boarding or day care. Our next opening for a meeting for new customers is mid May. If you know you have summer (or even fall and winter!) travel plans, I suggest getting a meeting on the books with us. We have lots of fluffy dogs and squished nosed dogs this weekend to play.  Penny is new with us- she is a sweet little cavapoo. All of our other friends are returning guests. And the college kid is home for spring break!

We are so sad… Diesel is moving away. Far away to San Diego. 😢

He has been the BEST daycare dog. We have had him coming consistently for a year…ever since we brought Link home. He has been Link’s big brother and role model. And he has become part of our family. More than one tear has been shed since we learned he was moving away.

People ask if we take big dogs and Diesel is the perfect example of why the size is not what determines if a dog will fit in well here. Diesel is a gentle giant…sometimes a big baby but always respected and always respectful. He is immediately responsive to distraction and correction. If I tell him to protect the little ones he will sit next to them and glare at anyone who tries to annoy them. He is patient and waits his turn for food and treats and always shares his toys without aggression.

Yes he’s big. He’s solid. He’s strong. If he was crazy he could hurt someone but he’s not. So yes. We will take dogs like Diesel. He will be hard to replace. He’s one of a kind. And he will be missed.
