The Bergamasco Shepherd, a unique and interesting dog breed, has several distinctive features:
- Their coat, with three types of hair that naturally form dreadlock-like mats, keeps them warm and protected.
- Originating from the Middle East, they were herding dogs in the Italian Alps for almost 2,000 years.
- Known for their intelligence and problem-solving skills, Bergamascos are self-reliant and typically make good decisions.
- Grooming is low-maintenance; once flocked, their coat requires occasional cleaning and mat separation.
About 4 hours in 60 seconds. So much goes on through out the day. Thank you to our fantastic team for always doing their best! We appreciate our staff and clients ❤️

Oceanside Animal Hospital is proud to announce the return of our urgent care services. With summer here in full force it’s important to have a plan even if you have established veterinary care.
How it works:
Give us a call at 508-744-3838 with details about your pet
One of our staff will take a look at the schedule and let you know if we have room to see you. If we are at capacity we will refer you to another vet in the area depending on species of pet.
If we are not at capacity we will speak with you about the best time to come down. Sometimes it’s right away.
When you arrive one of our talented technicians will come to the lobby and triage your pet. This will typically include checking your pets heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature and other vitals.
If your pet is considered not stable they will be brought to a Doctor right away.
If your pet is stable it may be a bit of a wait.
These guidelines have been developed to give you and your pet the peace of mind needed in tough situations. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions.

Thank you to Doctor Esmond for putting on this suit and bringing joy to so many people and pets. I’m sure it was hot in there!
Sometimes a cone isn’t a great option for all of our pets after surgery. And that’s okay when the alternative is this cute!
Here you can see us doing a scrub before a debridement. A debridement is done to remove shell rot so that antibiotics can be applied to the underlying tissue.
This practice is a very delicate process and should only be done by your vet or a trained professional.

Did you know that even though red eared sliders can live in murky waters in the wild water quality is extremely important in captivity.
