A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us at Camp Namanu for our "Give Service" Day Weekend! Your hard work, kindness, and commitment helped us prepare Camp Namanu for winter, and we couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you. 🌲

Whether you stayed for the entire weekend or joined us just for Saturday, every task was made lighter by your teamwork and dedication. We’re so grateful for this incredible community helping us keep Camp Namanu beautiful and welcoming to all! 💚

We were recently featured on KGW-TV, highlighting our urgent need to raise $1 million to keep Camp Namanu’s doors open for future generations.

This historic camp has been a place of learning, growth, and fun for over a century. Now, we need your support to continue that legacy. Watch the video to learn more.

The camp has been in Sandy for 100 years, but the interim director said they need to raise a million dollars to keep it open.

🚨 Registration is NOW OPEN for Camp Namanu 2025 Summer Sessions! 🚨

Even in this season of uncertainty, we are continuing to plan for Summer 2025. We are only taking the $50 deposit at this time to secure spots. Payment plans will begin in January for the remainder of the fees if we are able to execute on our vision and meet our fundraising goals this winter.

We have a deep sense of hope and belief that we will successfully raise the funds we need and that we will be together in Summer 2025 to continue the mission and magic of camp. We encourage everyone interested in registering in camp to continue to do so, as it’s one of the best ways to support Camp Namanu. It helps us demonstrate a clear sense of interest and commitment that will help with our fundraising efforts.

It is incredibly hard to share this message. Especially at a time when there are many worthy causes looking for funding and support, but Camp Namanu is in trouble.

For over 100 years, Camp Namanu has been a place of adventure, inspiration, and community for youth across Oregon. But today, we need your help to preserve this beloved sanctuary for future generations.

Due to rapidly rising costs, supply chain and labor challenges, and a sharp decline in funding, Camp Fire Columbia and Camp Namanu face significant financial pressures. To meet these challenges, we have adjusted our operations, reduced costs, and formed new partnerships.

But without additional support, our cash reserves will be depleted by the end of 2024, and we risk losing a vital part of Oregon’s outdoor heritage.

Are you ready to level up your leadership skills at Camp Namanu? Whether you want to make a difference behind the scenes or learn to lead campers, we have two specialty teen programs just for you! 🏕️💪

👟 Gears (Grades 10-12):
This program is perfect for high school campers looking to give back to camp. Help lead the dining hall, make announcements, share dietary info, and lead kitchen patrol – all while having fun and working as a team. Work hard, play hard, and experience the magic of camp from a new perspective! 🎉

🛠️ Counselor-in-Training (CIT, Grades 11-12):
The two-year CIT program focuses on developing your youth leadership skills. You'll learn about child development, behavior management, communication, and more, while gaining real-life experiences. With mentoring and weekly feedback, you'll be empowered to make great decisions and grow as a leader! 🌟

🌿 A Huge Shout Out to Our Amazing Volunteers from Camp Namanu and Outdoor School! 🌿

Last month, a group of incredible volunteers, from Camp Namanu and Outdoor School, came together to clear trails and give back to the sacred grounds of Namanu. Before heading off to college, they made time to be stewards of the land, working in areas like Wildwood, Riverbend, Water Field Study Area, Nature Trail, Cathedral, and Squirrel Haven. 🙌

This effort is a beautiful representation of the strong partnership and the deep love people have for this special place. Their hard work shows how easy it can be to make arrangements and contribute to caring for these lands. We’re incredibly grateful for their dedication and can’t thank them enough for outstanding efforts! 💚

We’d also like to give a special mention to the Namanu and Westwind Outdoor School staff who have provided us so much support. This year is also especially meaningful as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of our Camp Namanu & MESD partnership with Outdoor School.

It’s wonderful seeing so many connections across our community! Let’s show some love and appreciation for these amazing folks! 🌟

📢 We're Hiring! Join Our Team as a Seasonal Dishwasher at Camp Namanu!

Looking to work in a supportive and inclusive environment? We're seeking a dedicated Dishwasher to join our kitchen team at Camp Namanu for our Outdoor School season! 🍽️✨

🔹 Position: Dishwasher
🔹 Location: Camp Namanu
🔹 Schedule: Full-time, PM shift (Sun-Thurs)
🔹 Compensation: $16-$18/Hour

Key Responsibilities:
🌟 Support the kitchen team with washing dishes, food prep, and cleaning.
🌟 Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dining area.
🌟 Follow schedules and assist with unloading and organizing deliveries.

Qualifications:
✅ High school diploma or equivalent.
✅ Willingness to learn new kitchen skills and follow instructions.
✅ Valid Oregon Food Handler’s card, First Aid & CPR certification.

We are thrilled to introduce you to our new Camp Rentals Manager, Cyric “Lugnut” Willard!

Cyric or "Lugnut" began coming to Camp Namanu at age 13 and has been working with or associated with Camp Fire ever since. From being a camper in the Wildwood unit, to a working member of camp in the Gears and CIT programs, he has always loved giving back to the camp community. After some time on staff at camp, he went on to get his associates degree in Non-profit business and Communications at Portland Community College. After finishing school, he continued his work with Camp Fire Columbia in the Before and After School program. There he managed 6 schools in West Linn before stepping into the forest and coming full circle back to his forest home known as Namanu. Cyric has always loved and believed in Camp Fire’s mission to connect kids to the outdoors and teach what it means to be a kind and caring community member. Cyric likes exploring the PNW with his wife Sara "Redwood" and dog Charlie. He participates in a weekly DnD group and does archery in his free time, and now he's in a beautiful place where he can do both, so you could say this job is a dream come true.
