🌟🏕️ Discover Inclusive Design at Camp Namanu's Sherwood Cabins! 🏕️🌟 At Camp Namanu, we believe in creating spaces where every camper feels comfortable, safe, and empowered. Our Sherwood Cabins are a testament to this commitment. 🏡 Each bunk bed features its own window, allowing campers to adjust the temperature to their liking. Plus, every bunk is equipped with a low-level light for personal reading or to provide comfort during the night. 🔒 Personal hidden cubbies at each bunk offer a private space to store important items like chest binders or cherished stuffed animals. ♿ ADA-accessible bathrooms, shower rooms, and changing rooms ensure that all campers can comfortably use the facilities. 🪞 Mirrors are thoughtfully placed to avoid triggering gender dysphoria, supporting a positive experience for all campers. 📅 Guided by an inclusive design committee, this summer marks the first time the unit in its entirety is ready for our campers. When young people are thriving, they are connected to others, to nature, and to themselves with a loving awareness of their identities, dreams, passions, and needs. They are invited to imagine their whole selves and to grow, learn, and achieve in a self-determined, purpose-driven way. We’ve seen that comfort at camp and a solid camper identity eventually opens up the avenue to campers seeing their own potential within themselves as a leader. Corporate Day of Service at Camp Namanu with Enterprise! 🌲 On May 17th, we had the pleasure of hosting Enterprise for a Corporate Day of Service at Camp Namanu. Highlights of the day included: 🔧 Cleared trails leading to the secret beach 🪵 Chopped wood in preparation for our first summer camp session on June 23rd 🏕️ Toured the Weavery, Uncle Toby's, Spark, Blue Wing, Balagan, and Sherwood units, learning about the camp's rich history and our efforts to foster inclusivity for future campers 🍴 Enjoyed a delicious lunch and snacks on the Meadow, featuring s'mores bars! 🏷️ Visited the Camp Namanu store and received personal wood cookie name tags It was a day filled with community, volunteerism, and giving back.
