Board and train! This cute little gal needs some help with potty training. Little dogs can be difficult to potty train, and so mom wanted us to help while she went out of town. So far so good! We're enjoying our walks together. 😊

Training's my favorite. ❤️ Sure love this boy. He and his mom have been working really hard to help him learn to walk nice on leash, because he can really drag her around! They are doing a great job!

Sometimes the dog trainer needs to also go to dog training classes so she remembers to be consistent and train 😆😆 Luckily, Inara rocked basic obedience and went on to advanced obedience after 1 class.

So so true

You know you are a clicker trainer when...

You always have treats. All pockets. All spaces. Literally everywhere.

You have considered stealing construction cones off the side of the road.

You LOVE the household items section because of all the items you can convert to a target stick.

You have repeated “it’s not bribery” more times than you can count.

You have way too many enrichment items and still want to buy more.

You have considered clicking and treating a human for good behaviour.

You have a large collection of treat pouches and training tools in MULTIPLE colours.

I actually really enjoyed doing this post and am planning to make it a series so please feel free to add to the list and I will include them in the series!

It’s not what our dog “does” or “doesn’t do” that is important, it is the meaning we give to their actions, and our emotional response to “what we believe just happened” that makes all the difference. The path we choose can hurt or contribute to the relationship we have with our dogs. And that relationship defines what choice the dog will make the next time and the time after that. Allow your dog to show you how brilliant they can be, approach your training with empathy, humility, and compassion. Don’t allow anyone to tell you that your dog is “stubborn“ or “stupid“ or “willful“ or “knows better“… You get what I mean. Because our dogs are always doing the best they can with the education we’ve given them in the environment we’re asking them to perform in.

Yes! This is what good training is for, to help teach dogs what we want them to do. Not to punish dogs for just being dogs.

Your dog needs you to focus more on reinforcing them for doing the RIGHT thing rather than focusing on telling them off for doing the WRONG thing.
