Welcome to our series, "Oh, the Botany!" of Zeb's Wish. Here at the sanctuary, Native Ninebark blooms attract bees and other important pollinators. Why? Because a third of all of the food we eat relies on pollination by insects. So, it is important to keep our insect friends happy and healthy! Like the equines and humans of this land, pollinators can find sanctuary here.

A rescue that was neglected and mostly unhandled, Merlin has had an emotional GLOW UP, thanks to patience, time, and positive reinforcement.

From neglected to a full-blown cuddle bug, Merlin now seeks out connection and reminds us daily that trust is built one kind moment at a time.

Wisdom, presence, and deep emotional connection. The sanctuary environment invites healing experiences for both humans AND equines. Our equines prove every day that they have so much to offer, even when they are elderly, have special health needs and cannot be ridden, shown, or used as a traditional utility. We are so thankful to them.

Just outside the hustle of the Rose City, you’ll find something a little more chill.

Our equine sanctuary is surrounded by evergreens in Sandy, Oregon — where the foothills meet the forest. Out here, our herd has the space to heal, and people have the chance to connect with something real.

Volunteering is a chance every week (or month, or periodically), to breathe deep.

Humans. Healing Horses. Healing Humans.

At Zeb’s Wish, everything we do is about relationships — and the beautiful cycle of reciprocity that happens when we care for all of the life around us.

Recently, we welcomed Kyrie Kellett and more than 20 hardworking Scouts and parents who spent the day serving at Zeb’s Equine Sanctuary. In return, Zeb’s offered plenty of love and donkey hugs for everyone to take home.

Although it was hot and early, this incredible group showed up eager, smiling, and ready to work. They mucked pastures, stacked firewood, cleared weeds and toxic plants, cleaned the hay barn, moved bee boxes, tidied the arena, and still had time to hang with the herd. 🫏❤️

To the 636th Mt Tabor scout group of the Outdoor Service Guides (OSG) - your generosity, teamwork, and good hearts mean the world to us — and to every horse, donkey, and creature who calls Zeb’s home.

I'm the training world, with a horse, you are playing checkers. With donkeys, you are playing chess and they are always several moves ahead of you. With mules you are playing grandmasters chess.
