We are at peak season for mesquites. Do you have preventive heartworm medications?
Heartworm cases in Utah are relatively low compared to other regions, the number of reported cases is increasing. This rise is attributed to factors like mosquitos not dying off in the winter and dogs being exposed to heartworm through mosquito bites. Salt Lake County has been identified as a particularly fast-growing area for heartworm cases.

Hot spots are one of the most common skin conditions that can affect cats and dogs. Although these small, affected areas may initially seem harmless, if left untreated, they can quickly become a much more significant (and unfortunately painful) problem. Longer and double-coated animals need to be completely dried off after baths, swimming, or water contact. Water can become trapped on the skin surface with lack of oxygen to completely dry, some can develop a painful infection. Some breeds are more likely develop a Hot Spot, however, any animal can develop hot spot.
