Zoomies Funny Farm

Zoomies Funny Farm Zoomies Funny Farm is a 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on animal welfare initiatives. Welcome to Zoomies! We're so glad you're here. We want to help!

Please let us introduce ourselves. Founded in October 2023, Zoomies Funny Farm was established to help address the growing need for local animal rescue, foster, and adoption. Specifically, Zoomies is focused on the fostering aspect. We aim to lessen the burden on other shelters and rescues by providing a safe and (mostly) temporary alternative to animal surrender. We are aware of a number of issue

s that can lead to even the most well loved and well cared for animals to end up in shelters. Transient homelessness brought about by natural disasters, victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse seeking refuge from their abusers, military training and deployment, and even owners undergoing surgery or other long term treatments for medical issues- all of these things can make caring for a family pet an infeasible hardship. We want to lessen the struggle and to provide those faced with such challenges a different path. By offering these animals a place to stay while their humans navigate some of life’s difficulties, we not only prevent further overcrowding at the shelters, but hopefully, we can offer their families some hope and peace of mind by knowing their pet will be loved and well cared for until they are ready to be reunited. Additionally, Zoomies plans to provide a more permanent home for a few current shelter animals who because of their temperament or complex medical and behavioral needs would otherwise be deemed unadoptable. Long term care of these animals in a sanctuary based setting such as Zoomies Farm will offer them the best quality of life, and the constant hands-on approach to monitoring, training, and rehabilitating these animals will help keep them happy and safe.

There are very few feelings like this- the feeling of honestly being able to help an animal or person in need always (for me at least) brings such a profound sense of purpose and self.

Helping seriously feels soooo good. And I’m not just saying that so you’ll feel compelled to help. I’m letting you in on what I consider a divine truth. You want to know the secret to happiness? The purpose of life? It’s this. I have found no greater joy than making a difference for a being in need.

Corolla, Tacoma, and Camry will soon be ready for their homes. They will be spayed and neutered in the next two weeks and will then be adoptable!

Corolla (the gray one) is curious and cuddly.
Tacoma (the tabby) is the most bold and adventurous, and already has the strongest purrs!
Camry(the black one) is more cautious and reserved than the other two, and would probably do best being adopted in a pair.

Obviously, all kittens are social and do best when they have a playmate. So if you’re gonna treat yourself to a new baby, why not take two or better yet- all three! 😉 If you’d like to learn more about any of them, please send us a message! We have tons of videos and photos to share. And we’d love to let you meet them.

Please share this post to help them find their forever homes!

Big Boy and Ladybug are over by the Cameron Walmart looking for their forever home. While we never condone buying dogs from backyard breeders in parking lots- that’s not the case with these two. They were found as strays and have been fostered by two very kind humans for the last 5 weeks. They have been vetted and well provided for, but they need a home. If you want to meet them- they’ll be out here for at least another hour. We had the pleasure of spending a few minutes getting cuddled, and can confirm their sweet, friendly personalities.

Our friends at Fayetteville Animal Protection Society sent this information in an email, and we wanted to share it with you as well. It’s great advice, and we’re thankful to have them for putting it together!

From FAPS:
We hope you and your furry friends are doing well! As we brace for the incoming storm, we want to share some helpful tips to ensure you and your pets stay safe and comfortable. While our area might not get the worst of it, flooding can still be a serious concern. Here's what you can do to prepare:

Before the Storm:
Plan Ahead: Make sure you have an emergency plan that includes your pets. Think about home preparations, evacuation routes, and places you can go with your pets.
Pack a Pet Go-Bag: Include 3-5 days of their food and water, a collar with an ID tag, a crate with their name on it, towels, blankets, and a pet first-aid kit. Don’t forget their favorite toy or treat!
Gather Important Documents: Keep copies of your pets’ microchip info, current photos, vaccination records, and a list of contact numbers for shelters, hospitals, and pet-friendly hotels. Store them in an easily accessible spot.

During the Storm:
Bring Them Inside: Make sure your pets are indoors and safe from the elements.
Stay Calm and Collected: Your pets can sense your stress. Keep a calm demeanor to help them feel secure.
Keep Them Occupied: Engage them with training sessions, games, cuddles, and grooming. Stick to their regular feeding and potty schedule as much as possible.

After the Storm:
Wait for the All-Clear: If evacuated, only return if officials say it's safe.
Check Outdoor Areas: Before letting your pets outside, check for debris, wildlife, downed wires, and other hazards.
Be Patient: Understand that the storm might be stressful for your pets. Give them extra love and care as they adjust.

Extra Tidbits:
Runaway Precautions: Make sure your pets have proper ID tags with your cellphone number. Microchipping is even better since collars can come off.
Potty Time: If it’s too dangerous to go outside, set up a potty spot in a garage, bathroom, or another safe indoor area.
Post-Storm Supervision: Keep a close eye on your pets outside. Look out for storm debris, damaged fences, and other potential dangers.

Remember, your calmness and preparedness will help your pets feel safe. Stay safe and take care of those furry family members!

Meet Ladybug and BigBoy!

These two cuties are 12-ish week old coonhound (maybe beagle) mixes, according to the vet. They were found in Moore county a few weeks ago by a Good Samaritan. She got them to safety, completed the mandatory stray hold, and even took them to the vet to get scanned for a microchip (there was none), dewormed and vaccinated.

She is unable to keep them herself, so I’m asking all our to please share this post to help them find a good home. They don’t need to stay together- The little girl is the one with black and tan fur, and BigBoy has the white highlights on his face.

If you are interested, please send us a message so that I can connect you with their amazing and wonderful caretaker.

🎉 It’s our very first official adoption! 😎

And we couldn’t be happier for Libby or his new family.

We are so very privileged to have been a part of his story, and we are so thankful to everyone who’s helped along the way.

We want to extend a huge thank you to his team at Sandhills Spay Neuter Veterinary Clinic SNVC in Vass for his surgical care and treatment and also to Chris at Homes by Vanderbuilt for trusting us to TNR and help find homes for some of the cats there. And especially thank you to Wild Dogs Brewing for letting us host our paint and pints there- it was that event that ultimately found him his forever family!

There are so many variables to every story, so many paths that must cross- the older I get, the more I find myself starting to believe in things like fate. Libby was meant to be with us for the short time that he was, and now Libby is meant to live out the rest of his life with his new family.

Happy Tails, Libby!

You’ll always be a part of the Zoomies story, and we’re happy to have been a part of yours!

You guys….. how is he so cute?

Look at that little face, those biscuit makers, that gorgeous gray color!

This little kiddo is one of our TNR cats called Liberty. And Liberty could really use a home.

He’s young, neutered, and healing from an eye surgery. But most importantly, he is also so insanely affectionate and loving!

While Liberty could easily return to his well managed colony and get plenty of love and pets from the humans there, we know that life for a one eyed cat in the wild presents more of a challenge. With his super sweet and docile nature, we truly believe a home would be his best option.

So, Liberty is officially up for adoption!

If you or anyone you know is interested in learning more or meeting him, please reach out to us.

And please share or tag your friends in this post to help us find him a home!
