Zoomies Funny Farm

Zoomies Funny Farm Zoomies Funny Farm is a 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on animal welfare initiatives. Welcome to Zoomies! We're so glad you're here. We want to help!

Please let us introduce ourselves. Founded in October 2023, Zoomies Funny Farm was established to help address the growing need for local animal rescue, foster, and adoption. Specifically, Zoomies is focused on the fostering aspect. We aim to lessen the burden on other shelters and rescues by providing a safe and (mostly) temporary alternative to animal surrender. We are aware of a number of issue

s that can lead to even the most well loved and well cared for animals to end up in shelters. Transient homelessness brought about by natural disasters, victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse seeking refuge from their abusers, military training and deployment, and even owners undergoing surgery or other long term treatments for medical issues- all of these things can make caring for a family pet an infeasible hardship. We want to lessen the struggle and to provide those faced with such challenges a different path. By offering these animals a place to stay while their humans navigate some of life’s difficulties, we not only prevent further overcrowding at the shelters, but hopefully, we can offer their families some hope and peace of mind by knowing their pet will be loved and well cared for until they are ready to be reunited. Additionally, Zoomies plans to provide a more permanent home for a few current shelter animals who because of their temperament or complex medical and behavioral needs would otherwise be deemed unadoptable. Long term care of these animals in a sanctuary based setting such as Zoomies Farm will offer them the best quality of life, and the constant hands-on approach to monitoring, training, and rehabilitating these animals will help keep them happy and safe.

"Kitten Season" 2025 is well underway, unfortunately. 😬

What should you do if you find a newborn kitten or litter of kittens outdoors?

Step 1: Please resist the urge to scoop up the kitten(s) because that could do more harm than good.

Instead, watch from a distance and wait for Mom to return.

STEP 2: If Mom DID come back …
Great! If you want to help by offering food and shelter, make sure this doesn't cause trouble for the cat family. Extra food will fuel Mom's milk production — BUT put it at least 20 feet from the kitten nest. If food is too close, it will attract other animals, and Mom will move her kittens to a safer place. If Mom doesn't have a great weatherproof place for the kittens, offer a weatherproof cat shelter — again, not too close to the current nest. Let Mom choose whether to use it or not. By offering resources without scaring Mom into moving her family, you'll know where the kittens are when they're weaned (6ish weeks to pull to help transition to canned kitten food and socialize) and old enough to be safely trapped for taming and adoption at 12 weeks of age.

🚩And, most importantly, don't forget to trap and spay Mom the same day you pull the kittens!

Have a plan. Schedule her TNR appointment right when the kittens are born, so it's scheduled, and call to get the kittens on every rescue and shelter intake list that same day as well. Do not delay. Mom can go into heat when her kittens are 2 weeks old, so do not wait. The clock is ticking to save lives.

STEP 3: If Mom is truly NOT feeding and caring for her kittens, then please intervene -- https://www.kittenlady.org/age.

Courtesy post: This gorgeous brindle baby is Saint. Saint is an 8-ish month old female Cane Corso/Pit mix. She’s up to date on shots, but not yet spayed. She’s good with other dogs and older kids (she currently lives with some between the ages of 9-18). It’s unknown how she’d be with cats or very young children.

She’s looking for a new home because honestly, she was just born into an irresponsible one. She and her siblings were being sold/given away in a Walmart parking lot. The teenager of the family where she is now was pressured into taking one (now Saint), and he thought he was doing the right thing by bringing her home.

He was planning to move out on his own and thought she’d be good company, but he’s now discovered that he really isn’t financially able to afford his own place. Unfortunately, his parents rent where there is a no pet policy- and so Saint finds herself in need of a home yet again.

If you are interested in meeting her to see if she’d be a good fit for your family, please send us a message.
