Zoomies Funny Farm

Zoomies Funny Farm Zoomies Funny Farm is a 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on animal welfare initiatives. Welcome to Zoomies! We're so glad you're here. We want to help!

Please let us introduce ourselves. Founded in October 2023, Zoomies Funny Farm was established to help address the growing need for local animal rescue, foster, and adoption. Specifically, Zoomies is focused on the fostering aspect. We aim to lessen the burden on other shelters and rescues by providing a safe and (mostly) temporary alternative to animal surrender. We are aware of a number of issue

s that can lead to even the most well loved and well cared for animals to end up in shelters. Transient homelessness brought about by natural disasters, victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse seeking refuge from their abusers, military training and deployment, and even owners undergoing surgery or other long term treatments for medical issues- all of these things can make caring for a family pet an infeasible hardship. We want to lessen the struggle and to provide those faced with such challenges a different path. By offering these animals a place to stay while their humans navigate some of life’s difficulties, we not only prevent further overcrowding at the shelters, but hopefully, we can offer their families some hope and peace of mind by knowing their pet will be loved and well cared for until they are ready to be reunited. Additionally, Zoomies plans to provide a more permanent home for a few current shelter animals who because of their temperament or complex medical and behavioral needs would otherwise be deemed unadoptable. Long term care of these animals in a sanctuary based setting such as Zoomies Farm will offer them the best quality of life, and the constant hands-on approach to monitoring, training, and rehabilitating these animals will help keep them happy and safe.

Courtesy Post:

This handsome fella is Melo.
And he's looking for a new home.

Melo is around 2 years old, neutered, and up to date on vaccines. He has no behavioral issues and is housebroken. His parents are looking to rehome him because they had a baby last year who is now getting into the wobbly walking stages of life, and their concern is that due to Melo's size and age, that he may inadvertently knock over or scratch the child.

Melo goes for walks on a leash but still pulls some. His dad reports that he typically does well, but it's something to keep in mind at his size. He has zero health concerns and takes a monthly simparica trio tablet. He is happy and healthy, good with other animals and likes to play. He is a german shepherd mix and is very close to 100lbs. He can sit and lay down and give you his paw.

If you are interested in meeting Melo or want more information, please reach out so that we can connect you with his humans. Please share this post with anyone you think might be looking for a pup like Melo, and let's find him a forever family.

Please be safe if you are traveling today.

We know you might need your kitty and coffee fix, (don’t we all?) but take your time on the roads. It’s a bit slick out there.

We love Dolly (and Ree Nay) so, so, so, so, so much.

And she’s right, you know. Dogs can teach a lot about our humanity. How we treat them is a barometer of the morality of our community. If you look around and see the extent of the suffering here, you’ll understand that it isn’t just an animal care crisis happening. It’s a care crisis. Not enough people care. About anything, really. Too many people have lost sight of right and wrong, and it isn’t just cats and dogs that are paying the price. Our compassion and empathy for our fellow man certainly leaves a lot to be desired these days.

But if anyone can remind us how to be better people again- dogs can.

Mahatma Gandhi: "The greatness of a nation can be judged by how it treats its animals".

Immanuel Kant: "We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals".

Charles Krauthammer: "How we treat animals reflects on our humanity".

And

"He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men".

"If a man aspires towards a righteous life, his first act of abstinence is from injury to animals".

So what kind of person are you? And more importantly, what kind of person do you want to be?

There are plenty of opportunities to help. Please reach out if you want to inspire some change with us! And especially if you’d like to foster or adopt!

If I were to be asked to show a loveless world
how to love
I would for sure show them the love of a dog.

Because the love of a dog is wholeheartedly-forgiving , it is soul-nurturing in its purity
and utterly life-affirming.

If you do not know this love my friend
I urge you, compel you to seek it out.

We are looking for someone who can foster Dolly.
Please message me if you want to know more about this sweet girl.

Fostering is DIFFERENT here!

Have you fostered before and not had a great
experience?

👉It's different here.

Have you fostered and ended up with a foster for longer than you wanted?

👉It's different here.

Have you felt alone in your fostering journey?

👉It's different here.

We don't claim to be perfect. Nor, are we claiming to be better than anyone else.

👉But it IS different here.

✴️We don't ask you to take a dog directly from the shelter, a stray or an owner surrender. We have a specialized intake team for that. Each new dog/puppy spends 2 weeks in intake. They are assessed behaviorally, medically and in every other way possible so that we know as much as we can before they are adoptable or ready for another foster.

✴️We don't ask you to take a puppy/dog indefinitely. In fact, we ask for fostering from one event to the next. Typically one week.

✴️We don't ask you to pay for anything for your foster. We supply all you need.

✴️We don't ask you to transport. If you can't make an event with your foster, we will work to find someone who can transport.

✴️We do adoption events virtually every week to get our adoptables seen as much as possible.

✴️We have a chat set up for any problems, questions, concerns or issues you may have with fosters or even personal things.

✴️In that same chat we post the puppies/dogs needing a foster and you can choose who you think fits your dynamic best.

✴️We believe this rescue is a family. And we support each other in that manner.

👉It really is different here.

Starting the year off right with a few adoptions. 🥰

Memo 🐈‍⬛ and Mimi 🐈‍⬛ both got homes today! Woot woot!

And Misty 🐈‍⬛ the remaining kitten, might be settling into a forever family with her original finder/rescuer Ashley Teal! Haha.

Sometimes you just gotta keep one for yourself, ya know?

I’d say 3 out of 3 isn’t bad for the first event of the year. 😉

Anyway, happy tails, babies! We hope you all live your best lives!

2024 has been an amazing year for us!

And honestly, quite unexpected.
We intended to start small- part time around the rest of our obligations. We thought we'd build the organization slowly- lay the foundation, create our network, engage the community. We knew we would eventually be able to make a significant impact, we just didn't realize we'd be doing it right off the bat!

But Zoomies grew and grew and grew- faster than we could have possibly anticipated. I suppose when the need is so great- so is the opportunity. And while we are incredibly proud and excited to share all our accomplishments with you (they are made possible by your support after all!), we are also excited to announce all our HUGE plans for 2025 and beyond.

We hope you enjoy this brief year in review, and we hope you appreciate the direct impact we (you included!) have made on individuals and animals in the community. In the coming days and weeks, we also plan to post our tax filings, budget, and other documents to show what was raised and how, where it was spent and why. We believe in transparency and accountability, and we want you to feel good about supporting Zoomies and the work we do.

We also intend to provide a case for support and our 5 year strategic plan.

Just wait until you see it. 😍
