Lots of PM’s about the aminos, here is a full explanation. ⤵️⤵️⤵️ Hit me up if you have any questions.

What do you know about the amino acid content in your feed?

I’m sure you can tell me the protein level. Did you know that in order to utilize that protein, horses need aminos. There are two groups of aminos, essential and nonessential. Essential aminos need to be in their diet because horses cannot produce them.

Think of the essential aminos like building a beaded necklace. Every 4 beads, should be a red one. If you have one bag of beads, and you run out of red, all production of the necklace stops. You can’t build any more. But, if you added more beads (aminos), you wouldn’t run out of red and you could build the necklace big enough to fit on Big Tex! (Or as big or long as you possibly wanted) THATS WHAT AMINOS DO.

It doesn’t matter how great your feed program is, if they can’t utilize what you’re feeding them because they are missing essential aminos in their diet that are needed for all cellular processes.

If they aren’t getting enough aminos, they can’t repair muscle fast enough, they have to wait until the aminos are all present to rebuild. If they are missing one? Synthesis stops.

The National Research Council (NRC) recommends for a mature 1100 lbs horse under working load to need 46 grams of lysine a day. More is needed if they are growing.

(Now, go read your feed bag.)

If it’s not a listed ingredient... meaning added in simple form (easy to digest) then they are including content from the plant ingredients, however because of the cellular thickness, plant contents aren’t as easily digestible for the horse and often times, it’s not breaking down enough until it’s in the hind gut. Which means it’s not always present when it’s needed to be absorbed by the foregut.

My goal isn’t to have some miracle supplement, but to insure I’m getting the most out of what I’m already feeding and insuring that my horses body is capable and fueled to do all the amazing things it was created it to do. With aminos it can REPAIR, grow, build, recover, it can handle pressure and stress.

💪🏻REPAIR PRE WORKOUT PASTE: A straight up amino BOOST, it has 11 essential amino acids along with extra threonine. This is geared just towards performance or strenuous workouts. The base formula includes an ingredient to help sooth their stomach from stress at a show. Soy that is in the pastes is grown on farm and is naturally expelled. If you know you’re at a 3 day show, you can start it the day before, give it two hours out from competition, and the day after. This is also a great boost if you give it after a horse had a difficult workout. Stress from hauling? Try some REPAIR.

❌Challenge the labels❌

Are you comparing supplements apples to apples or apples to oranges?

I created my own supplement line after being frustrated once I started delving into labels on supplements I “thought” I liked.

“Supplements for horses are, in fact, kind of sort of supposed to be regulated. But, frankly, since the horse supplements aren’t meant for humans (most people aren’t in favor of unsafe substances going into people), and since horses aren’t food animals (most people aren’t in favor of unsafe substances going into people after having been first going into the animal), the safety and effectiveness concerns for the things that people give to horses are a bit lower down the ladder – like all the way down at the bottom. So, as it turns out, when it comes to horse supplements being regulated, they’re kind of sort of not, even if they are kind of sort of supposed to be.” (David Ramey DVM)

When you do your own research, you would be amazed at what’s actually in these supplements. Here are a few things I have learned:

1. If it is not an actual listed ingredient, it is NOT added. Which means they are listing it because it’s actually an ingredient of an ingredient. Often times not even digestible to your horse in any sort of timely fashion to be useful to your horse.

2. Watch the conversions! Is it MG, G, OZ, CC?

➡️1oz =30cc = 28gm.

Are you comparing apples to apples?

3. If something is generally considered “safe...” there is no regulation. In the government, you have the FDA and CVM (Center for Veterinary Medicine), and in the private sector the AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officers) or NASC (National Animal Supplement Council), but neither of those have any real regulatory authority and approval can be “purchased.” Neither particularly cares unless people are eating it or you’re making some sort of medical claim.

Red Hot Equine Aminos was created to take out any junk- all added colors, fillers, etc. It’s made in an FDA Approved facility. I wanted something that could help the body function at optimum levels, naturally. Just as it was created to do. I wanted an ingredients list anyone could understand, because I want to KNOW what I’m putting into my horses body. Do you?

Challenge the labels!!! Do your research. You are your horses stewards!

Go browse around the website and if you have any questions, I’m happy to answer them.

I never like to talk about other products, only my own, but a customer actually made this comparison a few years ago and sent it to me, so I wanted to share ❤️
