As it would turn out, 2 inches of rain in 12 hours after weeks of wind shifting the arena sand around weird causes this mess. ☠️

Needless to say, the arena is closed and lessons will resume next week. πŸ˜‚

This might be the most satisfying photo ever. πŸ˜‚ Nothing like a good spring groom!

Two weeks ago: -5 wind chill
Last night: 80mph straightline winds + thunderstorm
Today: Sustained 45mph gusting to 60 plus...a dust storm???? And the power went out this afternoon.

Note the water tank that has *blown* to the middle of the boys' paddock. πŸ˜‚
There will be no lessons today. πŸ˜‚

Free Jump Day!
Enjoy the horses' ratings on how yesterday's training went. πŸ˜‚
HUGE thank you to amazing barn mom Leslie for these awesome pictures!!

πŸ§‡ Waffles: 9/10- "So fun. Dead gallop seems to not be the correct way to approach the bigger stuff unfortunately, cause that's the most fun way. But once I figured that out, I was so unbelievably awesome, no one could possibly ever top my performance. I rock."

πŸ₯ŠTyson: 5.5/10- "This was a stupid exercise when the humans were trying to help guide my technique. 1/10 for this method. But when I am getting to flat out run the entire arena on my own and *choose* to go through the chute, that's a 4/10 good time. Extra half point cause refusing to be caught was a nice bonus time. For a total of 5.5. Too much effort required overall."

🐣Tata: 1/10- "I actually hated this. Were it not for my mom giving me cookies throughout this horrendous exercise, I would have given it a 0/10, possibly even a -1/10. Jumping is so much work. Don't listen when the humans say the tallest they made me jump was barely 2'. It was actually 10' and it was too hard. Yuck. But lead changes are really cool and I'm super awesome at those. Can we just do that instead next time??"

🦐Roux: 11/10- "This is my favorite thing ever. Please note that the humans didn't even have to tell me what to do, I did this four years ago all the time and I'm a brilliant genius so of course I remember the drill, just shut up and let me jump. Those dumb boys make this look way harder than it really is. They should've paid more attention when it was my turn cause I put on a clinic. But alas, you can't fix stupid. Not really my problem."

❀️Ginny: 4/10- "So actually I really thought that neon tape was gonna eat me while warming up on the lunge line, and I don't really know why we needed to go even closer to it to go over the jump. We coulda just revelled in the glory that is me showing off my racehorse gallop around the rest of the arena. So I chose to do that instead and for some reason the humans were not impressed. But whatever, I got cookies and snuggles out of it and the jump wasn't bad."

πŸ•·οΈWednesday: 10/10- "I really feel that further explanation is not needed on this rating. You showed me what to do once. I then did it perfectly at every height and didn't even break a sweat. I'm fantastic. Duh."

🌻 Horse Camp 2025 is here! 🌻

Join us at Nomad Farms this summer for fun-filled week long horse camps!
Camps run 9am-3pm Monday-Friday with a mini horse show on Friday so that parents can come and see their child ride and demonstrate all they have learned throughout the week!

Date Options:
❀ May 26th-30th
❀ June 9th-13th
❀ June 23rd-27th
❀ July 7th-11th

Campers will ride for one hour every day, plus enjoy plenty of hands-on time learning and experiencing different aspects of the horse world both in and out of the saddle! Each day will also include an equine-related craft, games, popsicles+water activities, and more!

Kids ages 6+ with any level of horse experience are welcome, including total beginners with no prior experience! Ride time will be split in two groups by age/skill level so that everyone is learning in the appropriate environment.

Visit the link below for more details and to view the registration form! The earlier camp dates typically fill the quickest, so register early to ensure your preferred week!

Well, the first show of the year didn't pan out as expected. Spirit had a mystery injury at some point during the night and needed a trip to the vet very early in the morning. She will be okay after some stall rest and rehab time. (Apparently when she heard that the groundhog said we have six more weeks of winter and it's coming back today, she decided to find a way to ensure that she will be staying inside for the remainder of the cold months.πŸ’™πŸ€£πŸ«£).........
However Lily and her pony Midnight powered through and braved their first Leadline class all on their own and did fantastic! πŸ‘..........
Then after we had Spirit settled, we were able to run up and just *barely* make it in time to get Lilah in the ring for Future Jumpers where they kicked off their show season with winning Champion! .........
Waffles lucked out and the 18" Hunter division that he was supposed to school in was already done so we puttered around for awhile in the ring doing our own thing and practicing being a good calm boy with no friends in the cold and the rain! No photos unfortunately of the glittery hearts on his b***y that the girls gave him.πŸ˜‚.........
Huge shout out to Emma, Madison, Remi, Alicyn, Mallory, Presley, and Lucy for being so flexible with missing out on showing today. Horse wellbeing will always come first above shows and they all truly embodied their commitment to that today with the extremely last minute change of plans. We are excited to see them all rock in one of the next few shows which are both at Hidden Lakes Feb 23rd and March 9th.........
Spirit will be chilling in the stall across from Waffles/Martin for awhile, so feel free to shower her with whatever love and affection and good vibes so she heals quickly for Alicyn! πŸ’™

Thank you Hidden Lake Farm for being wonderful!

The farm had some incredibly funky thick fog/rain/mist that the horses found...stimulating shall we say.πŸ˜‚

So it was very much a quick groundwork conditioning evening for a few ponies and then an early evening feed to get ahead of the worst of the rain.
Thank y'all for bearing with the wacky lesson schedule this January is producing.
