So it was very much a quick groundwork conditioning evening for a few ponies and then an early evening feed to get ahead of the worst of the rain.
Thank y'all for bearing with the wacky lesson schedule this January is producing.

Based on the feisty, neurotic, just plain weird behavior of the cats this evening (antics not pictured 😂), we're going to make the public wager that the winter storm is going to err on the more dramatic side where we're at.

❄️BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE!❄️

Hello, and welcome to a classic Texas winter!
The high today? 64 degrees at 6:30am.
By 9am? 30 mph sustained winds, temp of 40, wind chill of 25! 💪 Continued to drop from there, currently chilling at a wind chill of 13 degrees! 🥶

☃️ Don't worry about the ponies! The humans of the farm will be keeping their bellies full of non-stop hay, warm mashed for breakfast, grain for dinner, and unfrozen water. Those who do not resemble fluffy polar bears are toasty warm in blankets!

☃️ Lessons however? Unlikely to resume until Saturday at best, but more likely next week.
Our top priority is our lesson herd's health and safety. While they do manage just fine, it does take a lot of extra energy for them to keep warm. Which means that after six straight days of uncharacteristically early cold, it is likely that even if Saturday weather is moderately okay, we will give them the weekend to rest and recover and start back strong the week following. This will also give the humans a chance to recover a bit as well as horse-keeping in this weather is a lot of extra work (and mess!🤣).

☃️ So thank you for your patience as we navigate the messy weather of January and February! Lauren will be in touch to officially cancel as the week progresses.

☃️ Stay warm, and if we do get snow, rest assured we will post pictures of your favorite ponies having fun!

Crushed the automatic waterer float? ✅
Yanked the waterer off the tank cracking the hinges clean off? ✅
Ripped the hose out of the ground snapping the plumbing at ground level? ✅
Did all this at 8:30pm on Christmas Eve so that no stores will open again for 36 hours to get proper parts? ✅

It was a busy evening for the mare herd! 🤣 Huge thanks to Alex getting this fixed and water to the farm turned back on in time for Santa to arrive! 👏😂

Due to this crime being committed under the cover of darkness, we don't know who the pereptrator is, so the whole mare herd is currently on the naughty list! If you have any theories, let us know in the comments. 🎅

(Just kidding, they're all perfect and we love them and they will never be on the naughty list.💙)

Horse shows are the best days! Join us to hang out as a barn family and cheer each other on as a spectator, or join us and show yourself! Showing is wonderful way to see your progress as a rider and to put your skills to the test! And let's be honest, it's just plain fun!

Thanks to Meg for a beautiful first lesson in the program for our handsome new guy! They rocked it together in 25 mph wind with temps right above freezing. 🥶 Rockstars!

So no one goes kooky without turnout today, everybody is taking turns getting to wander the aisle and fingers are crossed for sun tomorrow so they can go out!🤞

Violet is a huge fan of the new upgraded stalls fans we just put up.💜 Lessons are early and late to avoid the heat of the day, and we usually have a wonderful breeze, so if you're trying to stay sane on the back end of summer, might we suggest riding lessons? 👍😉
