Today I tried Aspen on a belt leash so I could clear some of the downed trees on the way to the stream. He did fine with the belt leash, did not like it when I brought branches down too close to us, and enjoyed jumping over the stream. Of course, since he was attached to my waist, he pulled me right into the stream!

Yes, Aspen is trying to dig out of the yard even though he’s on leash. I’m sure he thinks I’ll appreciate escaping into the woods as much as he will!

Aspen believes in early morning walks, so we just got back from the pond. I understand he enjoys sunrise walks on the beach, so he would be a great fit with a family that’s up early 😊🌅

This morning Aspen and I had a wet walk through the woods to the beaver pond. Aspen negotiated around mud puddles and downed trees to get there. He is extremely patient about sitting for pictures, although he was definitely wondering if I was done yet by the last picture!

Today Kota is thankful to be back on Sanibel Island with his whole family. The island smells odd, the fence around his yard crumbled, the people put things that belong inside their houses outside so he has to be very careful where he steps, and there are many loud machines, but he is home!

Kota is especially thankful for Nathaniel, who was standing in the (very busy) street trying to stop the car that hit him last weekend and who found his hiding place after the accident. His sore paw is healing, and Nathaniel slowed the car down enough that he does not have any other injuries.

We found him! He seems amazingly well considering he got hit. He’s still scared but willing to eat and drink. He crossed...

We found him! He seems amazingly well considering he got hit. He’s still scared but willing to eat and drink. He crossed one major road, then waited in the shell of a building under construction for us to find him.

A black Sesame Shikoku was spotted in Orange Park, just south of Jacksonville, Florida. Please let me know immediately if it’s your dog, or if you think you know who it belongs to. It was most recently spotted last night and unfortunately it was injured. We are headed to Orange Park now to look for it, any help is welcome.

UPDATE: This is Ellie, and her owner is in Orange Park looking for her. We saw her briefly tonight and she did not look injured.

Hiro has a history of confronting porcupines so we’re keeping him on leash for now. The girls are off leash because they have learned it’s better to avoid porcupines!
